Private Detective: Lexington Man Wakes Up to Find $180k Car Stolen

It’s not unusual for cars to be stolen in Lexington, but one resident couldn’t believe his eyes when he walked out the door Friday morning and his 2014 Porsche Panamera was gone.

It happened off Galaxie Drive around 4 a.m. Friday morning. Benson Miller opened his door and a few words came out of his mouth.

Those words, unfortunately, would result in an FCC fine for LEX 18, so we can’t print them or air them.

Miller explained to LEX 18 how a simple mistake landed his pricey car in the hands of someone else.

Last Thursday night, he was planning on taking a trip to a Porsche Driving Track in Indianapolis. He had his car checked out before he took it on the road.

“I remember pitching the paperwork and key on my seat when I picked the car up from the dealer.”

He went in to pack but decided he would leave in the morning instead of that night but he forgot one major thing, When Miller woke up, the shiny 2014 Panamera was nowhere to be found.

He’d accidentally left his key fob in the car with his doors unlocked. Neighbors later caught the car on their surveillance cameras leaving the neighborhood but they couldn’t identify the driver.

He hopes others will learn from his mistake.

“One, don’t be careless don’t leave your keys in your car unlocked at night, I mean that’s pretty obvious,” Benson Miller tells LEX 18.

If you have information on the the theft, you are asked to contact Lexington Police.
