A Lexington man has been charged in connection with the September shooting of a gas station clerk and the robbery of another gas station.
Investigators with the Lexington Police Department say that 22-year-old Deverious D. Jones was charged with robbery 1st and assault 1st on Tuesday.
On September 17, officers responded to an armed robbery at the Shell gas station at Lexington Green Circle. They say that the investigation revealed that Jones and a second suspect demanded money from the clerk and fled with cash.

Forty minutes later, officers responded to the Marathon on Lansdowne Drive where the clerk was found suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Police say that investigation showed that Jones and another individual entered the store, then Jones pulled out a firearm and after a brief struggle, the clerk was shot.
The investigation is ongoing.
Jones is already in the Fayette County Detention Center after his arrest on September 22 in connection with the armed robberies of two sporting goods stores and a home invasion.
