Deputies in Franklin County have released pictures from inside a Frankfort home where they say an adult daughter neglected to care for her mother.
Deputies had told LEX 18 that the conditions inside the home were terrible, but the photos released Monday show a house covered in feces and urine, even on the kitchen stove.
Even the neighbors didn’t know how bad it was inside of the home on Stable Lane.
The 75-year-old woman was found lying on the floor, surrounded by filth. There were 18 cats and nine dogs in the home.
“There were first responders coming out and throwing up after they walked out of that residence,” said Sheriff Pat Melton.

According to deputies, four of those dogs had to be euthanized.
Investigators charged the victim’s daughter, Heather Rash, with neglect of an elderly adult and animal abuse.
“To let a woman, your mother, lay in the floor in a pile of feces for several hours and you wouldn’t pick her up because you were afraid of losing your animals,” said Sheriff Melton. “That’s inexcusable.”
Sheriff Melton told LEX 18 that the house had probably been like that for months.
“For quite a period of time. Months, probably a year or longer,” he said.
Sheriff Melton said that the victim is now in state custody and getting the care and attention she deserves.
