Investigators in Whitley County say that a man already in jail is accused of conspiring to put a hit out on four people.
William Sutton, 54, had already been in the Whitley County Detention Center for seven months when he was brought up on new charges Friday.
“Essentially, he wanted to have four individuals killed. Two of them are elected officials and two are private citizens within this county,” said Whitely County Jailer Brian Lawson.
Names of the intended victims are not being released, but an arrest citation indicates that all four were involved in ongoing legal proceedings against Sutton.

“To listen to Mr. Sutton and his plans, it’s quite disturbing,” said Lawson. “There are recorded conversations of Mr. Sutton trying to attempt to hire someone to kill these four individuals.”
Lawson said it was not clear who he was trying to conspire with, but that almost all calls to and from prisoners are monitored.
It is unclear at this point if anyone else may face charges in connection to the case.
Sutton has been booked in the Whitey County Detention Center more than a dozen times since 2007, including four previous charges of intimidating a participant in the legal process.
