A former Breathitt County school superintendent pleaded guilty in a federal vote-buying case on Tuesday.
Arch Turner, who resigned in May, was charged with being part of a scheme to buy votes in the May 2010 primary in the county. Turner was charged with trying to improperly influence a witness, conspiracy to buy votes, providing cash to buy votes, getting a witness to lie and lied himself to an FBI agent investigating the scheme.

Turner could face a maximum of 5 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years probation. He will be released on bond and under certain conditions. He must wear an electronic monitor and he has to stay in Fayette County. He cannot return to Breathitt County or contact anyone in the case. He’s due back in court on October 24.
Ten others have pleaded guilty or have been convicted in the same scheme.
