Pedophile Tracking 40 Arrested in Georgia Child Sex Sting

Deputies say dozens of people have been arrested in a child-sex sting in east Georgia.

Effingham County sheriff’s officials tell news outlets in a statement that 40 people, ranging in age from 17 to 57, were arrested this summer for trying to have sex with children.

Deputies lured the suspects Effingham and Chatham counties over the past 10 weeks by posing as underage children on the internet.

Officials say the suspects, who hail from Georgia and South Carolina, were arrested on child molestation and computer pornography charges. Some of their mugshots were released Tuesday.

Deputies say some of the suspects would try to meet the children and arrive at locations where they were arrested.

One of those arrested was former Portal Elementary Principal Paul Hudson.

Private Detective: Montgomery Co. Rape, Kidnapping Suspect Extradited to KY

A man has been extradited from Michigan to Kentucky to face disturbing charges out of Mount Sterling.

The investigation started over the weekend of July 30-31 when police say a woman showed up to the hospital and said he had been kidnapped and raped. Police say she told them she was walking in Mount Sterling when she was abducted at gun point.

She says her kidnapper took her to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted her.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

One week later, Mount Sterling police notified police in Michigan that they believed the suspect was there.

Ronald Triplett was taken into custody without incident and will be turned over to authorities in Michigan.

Detroit Metro Police say that Triplett was picked up by police in a hotel parking lot in Livonia, MI.

Mount Sterling Police say that while Triplett doesn’t appear to have a criminal history in Kentucky, he has an extensive violent criminal history in other states.

Triplett is charged with 1st degree rape, kidnapping, and 1st degree sodomy. He also faces charges of 1st degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, because detectives say he was carrying counterfeit money.

His arraignment will be Monday, August 15.

Wrongful Death Mass. Police Seek Help to ID Suspect in Princeton

Officials are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect or suspects in the murder of a woman whose body was found in the woods of the central Massachusetts town of Princeton Sunday night.

Undated driver license photo released by the Worcester County District Attorney's Office shows Vanessa Marcotte, whose body was found Sunday night. (Worcester County DA's office/AP)

Vanessa Marcotte, a 27-year-old who lived in New York City, went missing during a run while visiting her mother, according to Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. Police say her body was found partially naked and burned about a half mile from her mother’s house.

Marcotte worked as an account manager at Google.

Officials say they have received hundreds of leads so far, but the police have not yet announced a suspect.

“We’re still approaching this from every angle,” Early said. “We don’t know if this was a random act. We cannot speak to that right now. Again, we’re asking the citizens of Princeton to use an abundance of caution with regards to this.”

On Tuesday, the Massachusetts State Police posted on Facebook asking for anyone with information regarding this case to come forward.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“Anyone with any information, or who may have seen anything suspicious on Sunday afternoon, or who may have seen someone or something that just seemed to not look right for the surroundings, should please call the State Police tip line,” the post read. “No tip is inconsequential or irrelevant; no matter what it is, please call the tip line, because it may be valuable to investigators seeking justice for Ms. Marcotte.”

You could call the investigation’s tip line at 508-453-7589. Police say calls could remain anonymous.

Police said the town of Princeton hasn’t had a homicide in three decades.

In a statement Monday, Google said it is “deeply shocked and saddened” by Marcotte’s killing.

“Vanessa Marcotte was a much loved member of the Google team, working in our New York office for the last year and a half, and known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of Boston sports,” the company said.

A vigil is planned for Marcotte in Princeton Tuesday night.

Marcotte’s family is not providing any statements and requests privacy, according to state police.

Cold Case Person of Interest Identified in 1977 Missing Person Case in OH

Police here have identified a person of interest in the 1977 disappearance of 17-year-old Yvonne Regler from a Lorain Road gas station.

After two years of re-examining the cold case file and conducting interviews, detectives may have identified the person responsible for the girl’s disappearance and hope to spur new tips from the public, Fairview Park Police Lt. Paul Shepard said Monday.

http://liarcatchers.com/cold_cases.html

Police released the information, as well as a timeline of the day of Yvonne’s disappearance and an age-enhanced photograph of what she could like like today, on the 39th anniversary of her disappearance.

Police believe Yvonne was abducted, but do not know if she is alive or dead, Shepard said.

The person of interest, whom police are declining to identify, is known to law enforcement and has been tied to similar crimes in the past, Shepard said.

“What a person does in their lifetime also draws attention,” Shepard said.

Yvonne worked at a Sunoco in North Olmsted, but was transferred to the full-service Sunoco on Lorain Road near West 192nd Street in Fairview Park for the day. She called family and friends from the gas station that morning, saying she had planned to go to the wake of a friend’s relative and meet up with some friends.

She was on the phone with one of her friends at 12:30 p.m. when a car drove up to the pump, drove away, then came back, police said.

Another customer bought gas at 1:25 p.m. and paid with a credit card. Yvonne initialed the receipt.

Sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2:05 p.m., three people said they went to the gas station and there was no worker there. The door was unlocked and someone’s purse was sitting behind the counter, but none of the people thought anything of it and didn’t call police, Shepard said.

Yvonne left behind her purse, cigarettes and a book. There was no sign of a struggle and no money was missing from the register.

Investigators believe that a man abducted Yvonne while she was pumping his gas, Shepard said.

Fairview Park police pursued more than 100 tips in the case but never could track down Yvonne.

But the case got new attention in 2014, when a member of Yvonne’s family offered to give a DNA sample to the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, so detectives had a sample to compare if they found Yvonne’s remains, Shepard said.

Detectives decided to go back and interview all surviving witnesses, including coworkers and customers of the gas station, and Yvonne’s friends and family members. During the investigation, police identified the man as the person of interest.

Police said they have not ruled out any of Yvonne’s family members, but said Monday that they have found no evidence to suggest her family was involved in her disappearance.

Shepard declined to elaborate on what evidence led them to the man.

Fairview Park police urge anyone with information about the case to call them at 440-333-1234.

Arson Investigation After Richmond Family Dollar Fire

Arson investigators have been called in to investigate a fire that happened in the Family Dollar on Main Street in Richmond.

“A lot of material inside they’ve got a lot of merchandise which caused the heavy smoke,” said Fire Chief Wayne Long.

Officials say the fire is considered suspicious and will be reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the store.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

Store employees told LEX18’s Jessica Reyes that someone poured lighter fluid on the floor and threw paper towels on it before lighting it up.

There were reports of heavy smoke coming from the left rear corner of the building. Chief Long says their station is just down the road and were able to get on scene within minutes.

Many say the store’s central location makes it a lifeline to the community.

“That’s an old folks home over there so if they don’t drive where else are they going to go?” asked Bobby Bowen, a concerned neighbor.

Chief Long says the temporary closure of the store will have a major affect many in the community, “a large section of the town shops at this area so it’ll be an impact on them.”

Due to the water and smoke damage inside, the Family Dollar will be closed for several weeks.

No one was injured.

Private Detective: Man Steals Gun From Cabela’s

A man was caught on surveillance footage stealing a gun from the Cabela’s in Lexington.

Cabela’s is still a relatively new fixture in Lexington’s Hamburg area.

Surveillance video shows one man getting a store employee to open a glass case and remove a handgun from the fun library for him to check out.

Police say that while the man distracted the worker, he put the gun in his back pocket.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Police say that he didn’t immediately leave and he even left the tag for the gun sticking out of his pocket.

“You walk into a place like Cabela’s, and they’ve got a camera in every corner of that place,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department. “He looks right at the camera on one occasion.”

The theft went undetected for a few weeks, but when the store did its gun inventory, they realized one gun was gone.

A quick check of the surveillance video revealed who took the gun.

“Anytime we have a gun stolen, the first thing that comes to our mind is, ‘why is this guy desperate enough to want to steal this weapon?’,” said Detective Thomas. Detectives wonder if he stole the weapon for money or if he plans to use it.

If you can help police identify this person, call the Crime Stoppers tipline at (859) 253-2020.

You can also text your tip to “CRIMES.” Just text “Lex P-D,” and your tip.

Information leading to an arrest could get you a cash reward.
