Private Detective: More Details Released in Alleged Frankfort Prostitution Ring

New details are coming to light in the discovery of ex-Franklin County constable Thomas Banta’s case file.

Frankfort newspaper, The State Journal, released details from the discovery Wednesday that shed light on the types of activities that were said to have been occurring.

A woman allegedly employed by Banta told investigators that she was lured in by his clientele, which is said to have included legislators and police officers.  In an earlier release, one woman testified she had sex with a man at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and then later saw him on television.

The names of the alleged clients and women have been redacted from the discovery to protect their privacy.

This same woman said she witnessed various women visit Banta’s office for what she believed to be prostitution purposes including “KSU students who rode the bus there and a young girl who was a student at Western Hills High School.” However, court records note that a records check at WHHS did not show any record of co-op students working at Banta Security and Investigations.

The woman also testified that part of the caveat of the agreement between the sex workers and Banta was that he was allowed to have sex with them free of charge whenever he desired.

You can read the entire investigative report on The State Journal’s website.

Private Detective: Man Charged in Laurel County Double Shooting

Laurel County Dispatch confirms that investigators are on the scene of a shooting.

It happened at a home on Locust Grove Road in Keavy. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Department says that the shooting took place at one of the victims’ daughter’s house.

The victims are Ralph T. Boggs  57, and Garrett Turner 57, both of London. They were both taken to UK Medical Center.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“We learned that two individuals had come to the scene in a white pickup truck. They went inside the residence to have a conversation with an individual inside of the residence, at some point the conversation turned into a confrontation or an altercation and the two individuals that had driven there in the pickup truck had been shot, one in the head one in the stomach,” said Public Affairs Deputy Gilbert Acciardo.

Acciardo says that Landon Collins,28, of London, has been charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and one count of receiving stolen property. Collins has been lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Facility.

The Sheriff’s department says they think a fourth man was involved in the case. They don’t know his identity but say they think he stole a silver Lexus from Lexington and drove it to the crime scene.

LEX 18 has a crew en route and will update this story as we receive more information.

Wrongful Death Case of Slain Lexington Mother Heads to Grand Jury

The case against a man accused of shooting a Lexington mother multiple times will head to a grand jury.

45-year-old William Pomeroy answered to charges of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the death of 43-year-old Amy Koegel. A Lexington Police Detective recounted to the judge the moments that lead up to the murder of Koegel.

Koegel’s body was found in the backyard of their Pinkney Drive home after a welfare check last Thursday. Family requested the check after she had not been seen since the day before.

Arrangements for Koegel will be held Thursday May 26 from 2-4 p.m. for family and 7- 9 p.m. for friends at Milward-Southland funeral home. Memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m on Friday May 27 at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She will be buried in Farmingdale, New York.
