Missing Person Daniel Brown of Iron County, UT

Authorities have officially listed Daniel Brown as a missing person after ending the nearly week-long search and rescue operation Sunday.

Iron County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Del Schlosser said investigators are pursuing multiple leads concerning Brown’s possible whereabouts.

And they will continue to investigate whether Brown simply left the area and may still be alive, Schlosser said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“He could have simply walked out of there and hitched a ride,” Schlosser said. “He may have had somebody his wife didn’t know about pick him up. It could have been planned. There’s all sorts of possibilities.”

The search was called off Sunday due to a lack of progress.

Authorities were unable to find any indication that Brown was even in the 75 square mile area after nearly a week of searching.

Schlosser acknowledged that Brown and his family have previously disappeared before.

Brown, 34, had jumped from state to state with his wife and children in search of employment over the past couple of years, according to Brown’s step-grandfather, David Goff.

Goff said family members would sometimes go for months without communicating with Brown or his wife.

Schlosser said it is also possible Brown may just come back on his own eventually.

Relatives said Brown had recently moved his wife and four children to the Cedar City area from California for a job opportunity.

According to Schlosser, Brown and his family had been living out of their vehicle — Brown had lost his job a few days earlier.

The family had been camping in van near Kane Springs and Minersville Highway when they became stuck on March 28, Schlosser said.

Brown supposedly left the site to search for help during heavy winter conditions. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes, searchers said.

Authorities later determined Brown had left the van with the keys in his possession.

The driver and passenger side windows had been rolled down before the engine was shut off. Brown’s wife used blankets to cover the two open windows through the night to keep her children warm, Schlosser said.

The wife contacted emergency services the next morning from a cell phone her husband had left behind in the vehicle. Schlosser said the woman had not realized the cell phone was there previously.

The woman and her children were in stable condition when help arrived, Schlosser said. The children’s ages range from 11 years to 7 months old.

Brown’s family was notified of his disappearance via media coverage last week. They are currently providing assistance for his wife and children.

Brown is described as white, approximately 6 feet 3 inches tall, with green eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with any information on Brown or his whereabouts should contact the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 435-867-7500.

Private Detective: Man Steals From Vending Machines in Lexington

Lexington Police are looking for a man they say is stealing money from vending machines.

Police have surveillance footage from the Clarion Hotel on Newtown Pike where the man is seen stealing from a vending machine.

Investigators say the worst part is how he got in there.

On a Friday morning in late March, police were called out to Pepsi machines outside of the Save-A-Lot on Legends Lane.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The Pepsi delivery truck driver servicing the machines says that a man came up behind him with a handgun and demanded cash from the machine.

“We think that this was probably premeditated and planned, and that he knew the delivery schedule, or the service schedule,” Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department told LEX 18.

The serviceman also told police that the robber asked for more than just the money, he also wanted his keys, specifically his service keys.

A day later that same man was captured on video taking the money from the hotel vending machines.

“We didn’t hear or see any more about this until the following day when we had received a report out at the Clarion out on Newtown Pike,” said Thomas.

Police say he came back to the Clarion about a week later and stole from the vending machines again.

Investigators figure the man has tried using the keys at other vending machines around town.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

You can call the Crime Stoppers tip-line at (859) 253-2020.

Private Detective: CA Man Imprisoned For Trafficking Meth

District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. sentenced a California man to three to eight years in prison for trafficking almost a half pound of methamphetamine.

Efrain Enciso, 34, Lynwood, Calif., pleaded guilty Feb. 9 to trafficking at least 28 grams of methamphetamine but fewer than 200 grams. Misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia were dismissed, pursuant to a plea agreement.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Court records show an Idaho State Police trooper stopped Enciso on Interstate 15 near the West Broadway Street exit for a window tint violation. The trooper wrote in his report he smelled an odor of marijuana from Enciso’s vehicle and requested a drug dog. The dog alerted to the presence of drugs and troopers found four separate bags containing about a half pound of methamphetamine.

John Dewey, Bonneville County chief deputy prosecutor, recommended a three- to 10-year prison term.
