Private Detective: Four Suspects Wanted For Check Forgery

The Laurel County Sheriff has named four suspects, including two Lexington men, in a check forging ring.

Sheriff John Root says the group forged counterfeit checks in the name of a local church and tried to cash them at a local bank. He says an employee at First National Bank of London found a large check before it was cashed and called the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff tells LEX 18 the group has gotten away with $15,327.

The suspects being sought are 60-year-old David Hosey of Lexington, 50-year-old Leo Hull of Lexington, 47-year-old Mitchell Followell of Harrodsburg and 22-year-old Benjamin Knight of Dry Ridge.

All four are wanted for theft by deception, theft of identity of another without consent, criminal possession of a forged instrument, forgery and engaging in organized crime.

Private Detective: Drugs Found After Crash, Man Arrested

One man is facing DUI and other charges after crashing his SUV in Whitley County this week.

It happened around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night off Highway 26 in Rockholds.

Sheriff’s deputies say they were called after a passerby noticed the SUV swerve off the road and flip on its top.

Deputies say the driver, 48-year-old Jerry Lawson, was found with several types of drugs and appeared intoxicated.

Lawson was arrested and now faces several drug charges.

Missing Person Clinton Sterling of Colorado Springs, CO Missing Since Nov.

Police need the public’s help finding a missing man.

Clinton Sterling, 25, has not been seen since Nov. 22 of last year. That morning, he was spotted in the intersection of Briargate Parkway and Lexington Drive around 4:30 a.m. He has not been heard from since.

Sterling may have hitched a ride and could now be living with the Springs’ homeless community.

The last day he was seen, Sterling was wearing a dark jacket over a dark t-shirt and blue jeans. A photo is attached to this story.

Private Detective: Next of Kin Located For Deceased Man

UPDATE: The coroner said that the next of kin for Jerry Clayton Fogle has been located.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — The Fayette County Coroner is seeking the next of kin of a man who passed away.

Jerry Clayton Fogle, 37, passed away at the University of Kentucky Hospital. Fogle had listed an address in Sadieville which is no longer occupied.

Fogle may have a relative named Steve Fogle in Lexington. So far, no one has been able to locate him.

Private Detective: Man, Woman Charged in Robbery

A man and woman are charged in connection with a Lexington robbery that injured a man in early February.

On the evening of Thursday, February 2, officers were dispatched to an apartment building on Village Drive where a man was found suffering injuries to his head. The victim told officers that he was robbed, assaulted and pepper sprayed by a man and woman, one of whom he knew as an acquaintance.  The victim’s wallet and cell phone were taken.

Investigators with the Lexington Police Department charged Samantha Lowery, 25, and Charles Velazquez-Lopez, 20, with first degree Robbery.

Lowery was arrested Wednesday afternoon and Velazquez-Lopez was arrested February 26.

The suspects are currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Private Detective: Police Searching For Robber in Lexington

Police in Lexington are looking for the person behind an armed robbery.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night at the H&M Grocery Store on North Limestone.

Police say that a man wearing a ski mask entered the store with a handgun demanding cash.

The clerk obliged and the man took off on foot.

Police are circulating the area.

Private Detective: Clark Co. Man Locks Grandmother in Basement, Steals Her Belongings

Police have arrested a Clark County man after they say he locked his grandmother in her basement for more than six hours as he stole her car and other belongings.

The newspaper reports that Naomi Wingard called deputies to her home on Muddy Creek Road early Monday morning.

She told deputies that she had been locked in her basement since Sunday night when her grandson, Thomas Ballard, came over with another man and a woman. She said they locked her in her basement and took off with her car, wallet, and jewelry.

She had escaped through a window.

State Police arrested Ballard on Wednesday and charged him with fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, and theft of an automobile.

He is being held in the Clark County Detention Center.

Pedophile Tracking FL Couple Faces New Charges

A man and woman who used to live in north Alabama now face hundreds of additional charges of child abuse and sexual abuse. This, after they were arrested on a slew of similar charges last year in Cape Coral, Florida.

Wednesday, Florence Police announced they have arrested Daniel and Jenise Spurgeon on outstanding felony warrants stemming from an ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual abuse. The Spurgeons were arrested in Florida in July of 2016, and at that time, Cape Coral Police contacted Florence Police to say they had information that led them to believe other abuse happened here.

Florence Police immediately began an investigation, bringing in the Alabama Department of Human Resources. The Spurgeons had 11 children in their care, or had adopted them.

The Spurgeons face new charges in Florence related to this extensive investigation.

Pedophile Tracking Goldsboro, NC Man Facing Multiple Child Sex Charges

A Goldsboro man faced a Pitt Count judge Wednesday morning on sex offense charges involving a child.

James Watters remains in jail on a $350,000 bond after his first court appearance at the Pitt County jail.

The 48-year-old has been charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child and one count of statutory sex offense with a child.

Greenville police say Watters was arrested Tuesday.

A spokeswoman says officers began their investigation late last year.

The underage victim was known to Watters, according to police, and the alleged molestations happened over a four year period.

The judge gave Watters a court appointed attorney and his next court date is March 22nd.
