Private Detective: Bell County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Phone Scam

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office put out an urgent message on Sunday about a phone scam in the county.

The sheriff’s office says they have gotten reports of someone calling people in the area either claiming to be from the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Bell County Dispatch, or Kentucky State Police. They say some of the calls have been in regard to supposed warrants the victim has on record. At some point during the conversation the caller claims that the victim can pay a fee to have the warrant removed.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Other calls are from people claiming they are from the Kentucky State Police collecting donations for the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. At least one of the calls was made to a landline from Ashland, Ky. (606)-618-9447.

The Bell County Sheriff’s Office wanted to make it clear neither they, dispatch, nor KSP will ever make calls of those nature. They say anyone with an active warrant will not be contacted by phone, and there is also no fundraising of any kind being conducted.

If you have been a victim of these calls, please call 606-337-6174.

After learning police were aware of the relationship, Williams took off to Louisiana, where U.S. Marshals took him into custody on Sept. 20, 2016.

After prison, Williams will transition to three years of post-prison supervision.

Private Detective: Lexington Police Looking For Hit and Run Suspect

A Lexington man shared his story after being hit by a car for the second time in ten years. Dean Woolums said the first hit-and-run left him handicapped, but this one left him angry.

With a punctured lung and several broken bones, Dean Woolums is in bad shape.

“I’ve got cracked ribs on one side, I can’t lift myself,” Woolums said from the couch in his apartment. “I’m in for a wonderful week, I’m telling you.”

All physical pain aside, the thing that hurts Woolums most is how he wound up like this.

“Just about the time I got to the second lane he floored it,” Woolums said. “He never even slowed down.”

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Woolums said on Wednesday, a red Mitsubishi SUV hit him and his service dog Daisy while they tried to cross Alexandria Drive. The driver fled the scene, leaving both Woolums and Daisy in the road.

Woolums was eventually taken to the hospital. Daisy died later that night.

“I just can’t understand how somebody can be that twisted,” He said.

For Woolums, this isn’t unfamiliar territory. Ten years ago, a woman hit him with her car just blocks away, leaving him handicapped.

Last year, that driver turned herself in to police. Now officers will have to investigate a hit-and-run all over again.

“Somebody knows who that man was,” Woolums said. “He deserves 25-30 years to think about it.”

Woolums said one thing this week did restore his faith in humanity a little bit. He learned a group paid to cremate Daisy.

“I keep telling myself there are nice people. I just haven’t had the luck to run into them, I guess,” Woolums said.

Witnesses told police the driver of that red Mitsubishi was a black man with short hair, probably in  his 40’s or 50’s. They also said the car probably has front end damage. The department is asking for any information from possible witnesses.

Private Detective: Body Being Exhumed of Child Killed By Train in 1921

Officials in Georgetown are exhuming the remains of a boy who died 96 years ago in hopes of identifying the remains.

Written on the teen’s gravestone are the words “Some mother’s boy.” A train hit him as he attempted to cross the track at a Georgetown train station on April 1, 1921.

Investigators estimated he was about 17 years old.

Friday, NAMUS will begin the process of exhuming the body in hopes of collecting DNA evidence to match the victim with a family, solving what remains to be the biggest mystery in Scott County.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“He’s not from Georgetown. He deserves to go home to where he was born and raised. We’re thinking he’s out of northern US and NAMUS has some ideas of people who were missing in 1921,” says Scott County Coroner John Goble.

The FBI has recently started processing cases like these for free, when it used to cost up to $7,000.

Once the DNA is extracted, it could take as little as 30 days for the FBI to make a positive identification.

So far, crews have found only one bone in the grave. The process will take most of the afternoon.
