Pedophile Tracking Glendale, AZ Substitute Teacher Arrested After Porn Found on USB Drive

A Glendale man is facing at least five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after a flash drive belonging to him was found to contain child pornography.

49-year-old Greg Paul Parr was arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor.

According to police, the flash drive in question was discovered in a Cortez High School classroom on Thursday. Cortez is part of the Glendale Union High School District.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

School administrators accessed the device in an attempt to determine its owner, but they found more than they expected.

Police said the administrators saw “what appeared to be images of young children engaged in sexual acts.”

The school contacted the Phoenix Police Department and turned over the USB drive.

With the help of administrators, police determined that the thumb drive belonged to Parr, and that Parr had taught in the classroom where the drive was found

Administrators described an image of an 8- to 10-year-old boy engaged in a sex act. Police found several more images depicting girls 15 and younger.

“Investigators also noted many school related files on the drive that were linked to Greg Parr’s duties as a substitute teacher,” reads the arresting officer’s probable cause statement.

Armed with a warrant, detectives from Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children searched Parr’s home Friday.

They arrested Parr without incident.

Parr told police he understood his Miranda rights and requested a lawyer.

No prior arrests or convictions are listed on Parr’s court paperwork.

He is facing five felony counts at this point, but that could change as the investigation continues.

“A forensic examination of electronic devices found in the suspect’s home at the time of the search warrant could lead to additional charges,” Officer James R. Holmes said in a news release.

Commissioner Sigmund Popko set a secured appearance bond of $65,000 and ordered electronic monitoring for Parr if he is released.

“What happened was they found some pictures on a little zip drive,” Parr said as Popko ran down the conditions for Parr’s release. Among those conditions are that Parr not return to the scene of the crime. Popko clarified that he meant Cortez High School.

Parr is due back in court for a status conference on Feb. 26, followed by a preliminary hearing on March 2.

The Glendale Union High School District sent a letter to parents of Cortez students.

“Dear Cortez Parents/Guardians:

“This letter is to inform you of an incident that happened over the weekend. A substitute employee was arrested on sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges are unrelated to Cortez or Cortez students.

“Glendale Union High School District performs background checks on all substitutes. No previous allegations or criminal activity were indicated in this substitute’s background check.

“Our practice in a situation like this is to share as much information as we can with you. Although this is an ongoing police matter, please be assured that if we learn of information related to Cortez that we are permitted to share, we will do so immediately.

“Thank you in advance for your support and understanding. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

“Walter Sampson, Principal”

Anyone who may have information concerning Parr of his alleged crimes is encouraged to call the Internet Crimes Against Children Detail, Sergeant Jerry Barker at 623-466-1828. You may also call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
