Fraud Investigation Man Poses as Time Warner Employee and Cashes Fraudulent Checks

Authorities in at least two central Kentucky Counties are onto a crook passing bad checks while posing as a Time Warner Cable guy .

Now, the police have photos they believe will surely lead to an arrest.

Local business owners say that a man disguised as a Time Warner Cable guy is passing bad checks. Apparently Woodford isn’t the only county where he’s been working this scam.

The man has been caught on multiple cameras running the same scam in a Richmond liquor store. He wears a polo with Time Warner embroidered on it and he has a badge and checks with the company’s logo.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

All of the paraphernalia is fake. Each time a store cashes a fake check they are out almost $400

The man attempted to pass one at Carol McDonald’s store in Versailles. The employees turned him away.

“A lot of times if they get a second shift or different shift they’ll be lucky enough to get away with it. Not here. 30 years is a long time. I’ve learned a lot,” says McDonald.

The surveillance photos are crystal clear. If you know the man, please notify your local police department.

Pedophile Tracking Former Brunswick County, NC Pastor Pleads Guilty

A former Brunswick County minister will spend 12 to 15 years in prison following a plea deal on child sex offense charges.

Joseph Robert Hall pleaded guilty Monday morning to statutory rape charges. The incidents happened in the mid to late 1990s, but the crimes were not reported until 2014.

“I’ll tell you that it’s been a difficult thing for her. It’s something that she’s had to bear for quite sometime. I’d just like to note that Mr. Hall’s position in the church was a position of trust and he abused that. It’s going to leave scars beyond Hall’s prison sentence,” Assistant District Attorney Chris Thomas said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Hall told authorities that he didn’t have intercourse with the victim until he felt she was age appropriate.

“He indicated that he in fact had a relationship beginning when she was 12, but did not have intercourse or sex with her while she was 12 or 13, but they just discussed sex. He explained that the sexual relationship started when she was 14 years old, because he thought that was the age of consent and it stopped when she was 16 years old,” Thomas said.

Hall was originally charged with four counts of indecent liberties and 11 counts of statutory sex offense in Brunswick County. Hall was currently living in Gaston County when the arrest happened. He was the ministry leader of a men’s group at Restoring Hope Foursquare Church in Dallas.

Thomas said the victim wants to move on, now the case is over.

“The victim desires no further contact with him or anyone on his behalf ever again.”

As a condition of his sentence, Hall will have to register as a sex offender for a period of 30 years.

Private Detective: Versailles Plumber Was Unlicensed

Police have arrested a Woodford County man accused of plumbing without a license.

Investigators say Larry Carter scammed two people in Versailles and faces similar charges in Lexington.

When Chirag Sheth needed his soda machine and toilet fixed at the Shell Mart on Versailles Road, he paid $150 dollars to Carter. After two weeks passed with no results, Sheth called the police.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Versailles police say the Shell Mart owner wasn’t the only victim of Carter and his company J & L Plumbing.

According to his arrest warrant, one homeowner paid Carter $1400 to buy parts for a septic tank repair. Carter was going to get $1400 more dollars after finishing the job.

Police say he never even bought the materials.

David Napier of Mr. Rooter Plumbing suggests that customers should look for a company or contract who advertises, is part of a trade organization, and most importantly, doesn’t demand money up front.

Wrongful Death Family Wants Answers in Shooting Death of Man in Front of Church

A Lexington family is speaking to LEX 18 after their family member was shot and killed in broad daylight in front of a church.

Walter Gray was gunned down Sunday in front of Christ Temple New Assembly and subsequently died of his injuries. Gray had a criminal past, but his family says that he paid his debt to society in full.

Gray’s family says the news came as a shock and was the most devastating for his mother, who feels that Gray had just made his way back to the family.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“She’s devastated. That was only boy. He was her baby. What is she going to do now?” says Christa Gray, Walter’s sister.

Walter Gray had been convicted in the murder of Andrea Tiller. Police say he shot her several times over selling drugs. He did ten years for the crime.

“We all have our times in life and nobody is perfect. He was younger then and he went on the wrong path, but he tried, he went to prison, he did his time, he got his life back together,” says Mya Gray, Walter’s sister.

Their family wants justice and they want violence to stop in the community.

“Let the violence go. Put the guns down. Come to God and ask for help,” says Carol Gray.

Walter is survived by many loved ones and a 15-year-old son. While they plan to lay him to rest Friday, they’re still left with many unanswered questions who did this and why?

Accident Reconstruction Driver of Semi Fell Asleep

Frankfort officials say the driver of a semi truck that was hauling cattle Tuesday morning when it overturned on Interstate 64 in Frankfort told them he fell asleep at the wheel.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says the driver and his wife were driving the truck from Virginia to Kansas when the man fell asleep and went off the road between mile marker 52 and exit 53, letting some cattle loose.

Both him and the woman are OK.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

The semi was hauling 110 head of cattle and 15 of those got out. Three cows were killed by two separate drivers who hopped the median, hitting and killing the animals.

First responders worked to capture the loose cattle.

Officials said a state veterinarian was called to the scene and if any cattle need to be euthanized, that will be handled humanely. Local farmers were also on scene helping with equipment and loading the cattle back into the truck, officials said.

The accident happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. and both directions of I-64 were initially shut down. The eastbound lanes reopened at 8 a.m. and one of the westbound lanes had reopened by 10:30 a.m.

Franklin County Fire Department, EMA and KYTC also responded to the scene.

Missing Person Teen Abduction in San Andreas, CA Was a Hoax

Authorities have determined an abduction reported Monday morning in San Andreas in Calaveras County was fabricated.

An Amber Alert was issued by the California Highway Patrol for a 14-year-old boy who was reportedly forced into a white van by two individuals at a San Andreas convenience store. The family of the alleged kidnapped victim also made a missing person’s report, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Early Monday evening, the sheriff’s office reported the teen had been found by Stockton police in Stockton and was being questioned.

After an investigation, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office stated later on Monday night that the abduction was a hoax and one juvenile has been placed into custody with Calaveras County juvenile probation.

“During the investigation which included an extensive deployment of resources, Sheriff Detectives obtained evidence that the abduction claim had been fabricated,” the sheriff’s office stated in a press release.

Due to the juvenile being a minor, the teen’s name is not being reported.
