Private Detective, Man Shoots Another in Private Parts Before Shooting Himself

Two people are recovering from a shooting in Wolfe County in which neighbors said one man shot another, then turned the gun on himself. It happened on Cave Branch Road in Bethany.

It was a quiet afternoon on the quaint country road, when suddenly at around 4 p.m. a blue Mustang pulled into Jame’s Maloney’s family driveway.

“He said I want to kill you,” said Maloney. “He threatens me, puts it in drive and goes up to my Uncle’s house and pop pop pop. He pulled the window down real fast, pop pop pop,” said Maloney. It’s a sound he can’t forget, and an alleged gunman he said he knows far too well.

“He’s kind of a dangerous character to be around,” said Maloney. He said Greg Richerson used to date his sister for years, and isn’t allowed on their family property.

Maloney’s sister said it’s her car and pistol that Richerson stole while on drugs, before going to the home on Cave Branch Road and shooting a different man she had been seeing.

“He shot Rodney Wilder two times in the private parts. And I seen him go back down the road,” said Maloney.

He said Richerson drove about a quarter mile down the road, and then started running from police.

“He went up in a driveway, waited a few minutes and officers got there on foot and he shot himself when the officers was running him down,” said Maloney.

Kentucky State Police said Richerson was shot in the chest and taken to Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson with life threatening injuries.

Maloney said the man Richerson is accused of shooting, Rodney Wilder, went to University of Kentucky Hospital. At last check Wilder was listed in good condition.

“I hope he gets better and the guy who shot him, I hope he wise up and he gets better too,” said Maloney.

Now as the wounds begin to heal, people on Cave Branch Road hope their relationships can too. “I would like for everybody to get along,” said Maloney.

Kentucky State Police said the case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.

Not many details have been released about the case and the men’s roles or motive in the shooting are not clear.

Wrongful Death Family of Mercer County Couple Releases Statement

The family of an elderly Mercer County couple who was found dead inside their home on Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide has released a statement to LEX 18.

The family says they want Bruce and Glenda Noel to be remembered as “two of the most kind and caring people you could ever hope to meet.”

In the statement, the family says Bruce “had a good heart, but struggled mightily with depression.” They said he “loved his wife dearly and she meant everything to him. This tragedy is not indicative of his heart or the wonderful father, grandfather, and husband we know him to be. I hope they are remembered for the wonderful Christian people they truly were.”

Investigators say Bruce shot and killed his wife before taking his own life. The couple was found by their niece, who knew something was wrong late Sunday night when she was on the phone with her aunt, heard a loud noise and silence followed.

After an indescribable boom, deputies said Glenda stopped answering the phone. Then, the niece rushed to the house and found the two dead in a bedroom.

A somber sound now echoes through the stretch of Warwick Road where hearts ache with loss.

Missing Person Randy Russ of Grant County

A Grant County man and assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati hasn’t been seen for weeks.

Relatives are now very concerned about 54-year-old Randy Russ who they say hasn’t been seen or heard from since Aug.19.

They say a neighbor found his back door unlocked and his dogs and cats living in a house full of feces. His daughter, Kate, says her dad would never abandon his pets; they were like his children.

“The dogs were locked up they had not eaten… so unlike him to leave them like that,” Kate said.

Tuesday, Kate and her aunt passed out fliers around Dry Ridge hoping someone can shed light on his whereabouts.

Russ’ grayish green Ford Focus station wagon is missing along with some jewelry and guns, says his daughter.
