A 19-year-old Lawrence man will go to prison for raping a 13-year-old girl with whom he said he had consensual sex.

A Douglas County judge on Friday sentenced Lottinville to nearly 13 years in prison.

Lottinville told the judge that he had simply been hoping to make a new friend and “have some fun.” He also said the sex was consensual but that he understood he was guilty.

Lottinville worked as a night custodian in Lawrence schools from late January until his arrest in February.

Pedophile Tracking Montgomery, AL Man Arrested

A Montgomery man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing three children over the course of 16 years.

Daniel Lex Baggett, 47, was taken into custody Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, according to the Montgomery Police Department.

Baggett faces three felony charges of sexual abuse of a child, one for each victim. He is being held on a total bond of $250,000. All three alleged victims were younger than 12 at the time of the abuse. Baggett also has been charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Police Sgt. Denise Barnes, an MPD spokeswoman, said officers initiated the investigation after the abuse was reported in July. Barnes said the alleged victims, now adults, came to police to report the abuse occurred between 1988 and 2004.

Baggett could not be reached for comment. Court records do not list an attorney for Baggett.

Jannah Bailey, director of Child Protect, said it is not unusual for victims to wait so long before reporting abuse.

“We don’t know what may trigger a child to report abuse or to talk about it all of a sudden,” Bailey said. “Maybe something triggered their memory later in life, but it’s not unusual.”

Child Protect is a nonprofit organization that aids law enforcement and human resources in child abuse cases with forensic interviews, court appearances and counseling, and working directly with children to help them feel comfortable and at ease.

Bailey and her team typically work with victims ages 3 to 18 and will not be involved in this case since the victims are now adults.

Child Protect on average help about 600 children a year. Ninety-eight percent of those are sexual abuse cases. The other 2 percent are physical abuse cases and cases in which a child has witnessed a horrific crime, Bailey said.

Bailey hopes others will report abuse if the are aware of it.

“If you suspect sexual abuse, you should report it,” Bailey said. “You could be the only one between that child and their abuser.”

Daniel Baggett is charged with three counts of sex abuse of a child under 12 and two counts sodomy first.

Pedophile Tracking Police Execute Search Warrant At Home of Twin Brothers Facing Charges

Police are digging deeper into the past of Lexington twin brothers facing child porn charges.

Investigators are back at the home of the Cassidy brothers, former Boy Scout leaders, executing a search warrant and looking for any clues that might help crack a three decades old mystery.

Around 20 police officers, most of them from the crimes against children unit, converged on the Mason Headley home around 1:30 p.m. Friday. Police scanned everything in the home to record the evidence in 3-D, in order to keep a “real life” record of all the contents.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Their mission is to identify some of the children detectives say were found on videos, pictures, cameras and film.

Jack and Jerry Cassidy are currently facing child porn charges, but the 76-year-old twins could be charged with more offenses, depending on what the police find. Those who grew up in the neighborhood say there were red flags here 30 and 40 years ago. Some recall seeing pre-teen boys riding go-carts with the Cassidys in their yard.

The Cassidys were once scout leaders in Lexington in the 1970s, but were banned from the organization when charged with crimes involving children. The brothers were both charged with three counts of unlawful transaction with a minor, a misdemeanor in three separate incidents in 1977.

The offenses did not involve boy scouts.

Fraud Investigation Rockcastle County Man Warns of The Grandparent Scam

A Rockcastle County man is hoping others won’t fall for a phone scam that cost him thousands of dollars.

Charlie Page says it started with a phone call at his home in the tiny community of Orlando when he thought it was his grandson on the phone.

“It was his voice, you know,” Page said.

The caller wanted money.

“I asked him. I said, ‘what’s wrong, son?’ he said, ‘I’m in jail’.”

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The caller said he needed $3,000 for bail, and fast. Page was instructed to go to the store and buy money-pak cards so he could send cash instantly over the phone.

“They thought it was a good thing, I guess, because they called us back the next day and wanted $2,000 more. And we gave it to them,” Page said.

Page says the next day he talked to his real grandson who’d never gone to jail. He then realized he’d been duped.

“It made me think we’re not the brightest bears in the woods,” he said. “They couldn’t have pulled this off with a young person. It had to be an elderly person, and I’m 80-years-old, you know.”

He says he’s hoping his story will alert other senior citizens to pay attention and not fall victim to scams. The FBI actually has a name for this scam – they call it the “grandparent scam.”

Missing Person Cold Case Mass. Boy Still Missing 40 Years

Almost 40 years ago, a 10-year-old boy went missing in Massachusetts, leading the community on a week long search.

Now, one of those searches is living in Lee County. Johnny Range reached out to LEX 18 with a hand-written note and a picture from 1976 of 10-year-old Andy Puglisi. Puglisi went missing from a public swimming pool in Lawrence, Massachusetts on August 21, 1976.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

At that time, Range was living on a military base. As soon as he heard about the missing boy, he spent days helping with the search.

“Even though it’s been almost 40 years, a lot of people move around and there could be somebody in this area that knows something about it and maybe doesn’t even realize they know,” says Range.

After a week long hunt and decades of investigations, very little has turned up in the serach for Andy.
The search is something that still haunts Range, 38 years later.

“It just felt like a part of me, you know, because it was so close,” says Range.

If you have any information on the disappearence of Andy Puglisi, you can comment on the facebook page “Have you seen Andy?”
