A woman caught on camera stealing flower pots from a backyard has been identified and charged, according to Lexington Police.

Back in April, police say surveillance video showed 38-year-old Terineka Cannon taking flower pots from a backyard on Eddie Street in Lexington. According to investigators she then sold those items to someone else.

This week the Lexington Police Department obtained a warrant for Cannon. She was served the warrant at the Fayette County Detention Center where she was already lodged on unrelated charges. Cannon now faces an additional charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking.

Police say the flower pots have been recovered and returned to the rightful owner.

Kentucky State Police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for multiple thefts in the Hillsboro area of Fleming County.

KSP says 29-year-old Ashley “Ash” Harmon stole a Jeep from a retired Kentucky State Police detective. The vehicle has since been recovered and investigators confirm with LEX18 there is surveillance video showing the theft.

Investigators also confirm that Harmon has warrants for probation violations and is wanted for questioning in connection to multiple thefts in the Hillsboro area of Fleming County.

Harmon is approximately 5’8″ and weighs 140 pounds. KSP say he may be driving a four-door 2005 Ford F-150, King Ranch Edition, in a copper color. He was last seen on Thursday night wearing blue jeans and a gray t-shirt. Police have reason to believe Harmon is in either Fleming, Bath or Montgomery Counties.

An endangered/missing person from Hartford, South Dakota may be in the Black Hills.

Authorities are looking for 22-year-old Matthew Vanderwerff, who left home despondent and is believed to be endangered.

He is 6–2, 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. Vanderwerff had recent surgery on his feet. He was driving a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville. Vanderwerff also went missing in April and was found near Custer.

If you have any information, call authorities. Do not take action to rescue him.

A juvenile has been charged in connection a fire on Friday.

The fire started at approximately 1:30 p.m., but Kentucky State Police weren’t notified till around 2:30 p.m. that departments were attempting to put out a the fire at the Gamaliel Elementary School.

Five school employees were working in the school when the blaze began but all were able to make their way to safety and no injuries were reported.

Architects estimate that the school received upward of $1,000,000 in structure damage.

The juvenile has been charged with third-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree burglary.

She was charged and released to her parents.

The case is still being investigated and additional charges are expected.

A man has been arrested after police say he was distributing child porn.

Christopher Elliott, 32, was arrested Friday afternoon after someone called police and told them Elliott had been distributing child pornography.

Police were able to track him down and say Elliott admitted to sending the graphic images,but claims he was high at the time.

He was arrested and charged with one count of distributing child pornography.

UPDATE: The Fayette County coroner said that 6-month-old Colt Tuff Shaffer has died. He had been flown out to UK Medical Center following a crash on US 150 east that killed another person.

Shaffer died Thursday, June 1, from acute intracranial trauma.

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18)The Lincoln County Sheriff has confirmed that one person died in a crash on US 150 east.

He said the crash involved a truck pulling a camper and a car. The camper apparently became unhinged and hit the car head on.

One person died in the crash, a 6-month-old child was airlifted to the hospital, and two others were injured.

Sheriff Curt Folger says the camper disconnected from a Ford truck, and barreled about 100 yards before crashing into the SUV.

Police are trying to figure out exactly how the camper became unhinged.

“To see if it was secured properly, or if it broke. There’s got to be a reason that camper came off the truck,” said Folger.

Cars and trucks have been stolen from driveways in Marion County while their owners are sleeping inside their homes.

“Somebody posted it on Facebook, talking about ‘has anybody seen this vehicle?’ It was reportedly broken into and stolen,” said Marion County resident Joey Reed.

The sheriff’s department said that this isn’t the first time it has happened.

They believe that the person responsible for a vehicle theft ring in the past is involved this time around.

“Makes me want to roll my windows up, lock my door. It’s just one of those things that makes you feel uneasy. You want to feel comfortable in where you live and where you’re at but it’s kind of a different day and age,” said Reed.

Police are investing a crash involving a motorcycle on Shannon Run Road between Military Pike and Dry Ridge Road.

It happened a little after 9 p.m. on Friday.

The road is expected to be closed until about midnight while a reconstruction team is on the scene.
