“I still think it was saving people, because it was us that needed saving at that point,” said Jim Neikirk, a paramedic in Lincoln County.
Jim Neikirk, Ryan Childers and Corey Floyd were working their typical 24 hour shift, when dispatch let them know their other station in McKinney might have been burglarized. Thinking it happened the night before, they thought it was safe to check it out at around noon on Saturday.

The sheriff said it was actually 24-year-old Levi May, and the EMS workers were about to catch him in the act.
“Check the other rooms and nobody is there, then walk in here and see somebody in the back of our trucks,” said Corey Floyd, an EMT in Lincoln County.
The EMS workers said they saw a man in the ambulance, and once they got to the back of the vehicle, he was standing at the back door.
“As soon as we grabbed onto him, the fight was on. And you couldn’t tell what he was thinking, was he trying to get to a gun was he trying to get to a knife?” said Neikirk.
The trio said they fought with May for five to ten minutes, and then he tried to fight deputies once they arrived.
“He was aggressive at the same time, coming at us, and you couldn’t tell what he had and he had some bags of our stuff in his hands,” said Floyd.
“It turned out he had a pocket knife, a pair of scissors, two hypodermic and a couple of extra needles,” said Childers.
The EMS workers said their ambulance was trashed. Their supplies were tossed and needles were used. Plus, they said medicine, including some narcotics, was missing.
“He just demolished it,” said Neikirk.
Now Levi May is under arrest. The Lincoln County Sheriff said he is charged with three counts of assault, burglary and having controlled substances.
The EMS workers went to the hospital as a precaution, however besides a few bumps and bruises, the men are back to saving lives and sending a message.
“Don’t go in EMS stations looking for drugs, because they are not going to let you have them,” said Neikirk.
