Private Detective: Man Arrested in Connection to Shootings Abducted Victim’s Girlfriend

Lexington Police have made an arrest in connection to a 2015 double shooting investigation.

The shooting happened on November 17 of last year. New details released show police believe that before George Waide was involved in the shootings , he was committing another crime entirely.

According to court documents, police say the day of violence may have started with a kidnapping. One victim was found on La Salle Road that day. A second victim was later dropped off at the hospital by a man police later identified as Waide.

During the course of the investigation, police have discovered Waide came into contact with the girlfriend of the first shooting victim and allegedly abducted her. The woman told police that earlier in the day she was approached by Waide in the Russell Cave Road shopping center. She says he and two other men shoved her in the back of an SUV at gunpoint, placed a bag over her head, forced her to strip and threatened to kill her if she did not contact her boyfriend and arrange for them to meet.

She says she was only allowed to get dressed after she obeyed their orders. Police found surveillance video and a witness that confirmed her story.

Waide was taken into custody Thursday. He’s now charged with kidnapping and tampering with physical evidence after police also found the car he was driving that day hidden in a parking lot riddled with bullet holes.

He’s due to be arraigned Thursday morning on these charges at the Fayette County Courthouse.
