Identity Theft Woman Say She Blacked Out While Commiting Identity Theft

A Random Lake woman is facing identity theft charges after she tried to get credit cards using her friend’s personal information.

48-year-old Christine Murphy faces two counts of felony identity theft.

According to a criminal complaint, Murphy attempted to sign up for multiple credit cards using the name of her victim. The man says Murphy is his ex-sister-in-law who’s been staying with him because she’s down on her luck and didn’t have anywhere else to live.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Police say there multiple attempts to open cards. The first attempt had the cards made out in the victim’s name, but the social security number and phone numbers used on the credit applications belonged to Murphy. The second attempt to fill out those cards used the victim’s name and social security number, but used Murphy’s former address and email and had her listed as an authorized user on the account.

When questioned, police say Murphy told them that she knew why police had come to talk to her. She told officers that she doesn’t remember filling out the applications because she has a medical condition that makes her black out and forget things. She also told officers that her medications make her a different person.

Online court records have not been updated to show Murphy’s scheduled court dates. She faces six years in prison on both of the charges.

Fraud Investigation Louisville Daycare Owner Guilty of Fraud in Seeking Child Care Payments

United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr. announced today the guilty plea of a former Louisville daycare owner to charges of wire fraud and money laundering and an agreement by the defendant to pay $1,424,929.00 in restitution to the victim agency.

Lottie Carisa Burgos, the former owner and operator of ABC Village Daycare, pleaded guilty in United States District Court, before District Judge Greg N. Stivers, to 18 counts of an indictment returned by a federal grand jury on July 16, 2014.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

“In committing this fraud, Ms. Burgos not only took taxpayer money intended to assist economically disadvantaged parents with childcare costs, but also placed infants and toddlers in harm’s way,” stated United States Attorney John Kuhn. “With this prosecution, we are protecting children and recovering stolen taxpayer money.  I thank the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their work on this case.”

Burgos operated ABC Village Daycare at two locations, 1801 West Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky, and 2823 7th Street Road, Louisville, Kentucky.  According to the plea agreement, Burgos or others acting at her direction falsified a wide range of information which was a condition of payment for child care services from Kentucky’s Department for Community Based Services.  The Department for Community Based Services provides child care benefits to low-income working parents and guardians.  Burgos or others acting at her direction falsified the following information:  high school diplomas which are a requirement of child care staff with supervisory authority over minors; negative tuberculosis tests and CPR certificates of ABC Village Daycare employees; the employment status of parents; the number of children who attended the daycare centers; and the number of days children attended the daycare centers.

Further, Burgos committed wire fraud on occasions ranging from January 1, 2011, through March 31, 2013.  The fraud is associated with payments from the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services totaling $275,576.  The total loss was $1,424,929.00.

Burgos also pleaded guilty to six counts of money laundering. Burgos engaged in various financial transactions with money derived from her wire-fraud scheme on six different occasions ranging from September 2011 through May 2012.

Burgos faces a maximum sentence of 300 years in prison, a maximum fine of $4,500,000, and up to 3 years of supervised release.  Sentencing is scheduled before Judge Stivers on June 9, 2016, in Louisville.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Weiser and was investigated by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Pedophile Tracking Brattleboro, VT Man Charged

Tammy Dickinson, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, reported that a Brattleboro, Vt., man was charged in federal court Monday, March 21, with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old child at Fort Leonard Wood, in Missouri.

Paul Kickery, Sr., 66, of Brattleboro, formerly of Fort Leonard Wood, was charged in a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Springfield, with the aggravated sexual abuse of a child.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, the victim’s father contacted the Brattleboro Police Department to report that his daughter had been sexually assaulted by Kickery over the course of approximately a year. During the time of the sexual assaults, between July 1, 2013, and July 31, 2014, both Kickery and the then-6-year-old victim were residing at Fort Leonard Wood. The child victim disclosed the abuse to a family member about a year later.

Dickinson noted that the charge contained in this complaint is simply an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller. It was investigated by the FBI and the Brattleboro Police Department.

Missing Person Robert King of Buncombe County, NC

Buncombe County deputies are searching for an Asheville man who has been missing since last Friday.

Robert King, 59, was reported missing on Sunday.

Investigators continue to comb the area where King’s car was found on Hazel Mill Road, while his sister Diana Perez and other members of his family are preparing themselves for the worst.

“I think someone did something, and I think somebody knows something about it,” Perez said.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Investigators won’t confirm whether or not foul play is suspected in this case.

But, Perez said, she can’t imagine her brother would just take off.

“He wouldn’t have left his car like that — He’s just not that kind of person,” Perez said.

King’s sister told News 13 the car was found with some minor scratches on the side and the side mirror hanging off.

But, it’s what’s inside the car that has aroused suspicion.

“When we found the car, the seat looked too close for a 5’10 man to get in there and drive,” Perez said. “There’s no way. I could barely get in there and I’m 5’6.”

Perez told News 13 the last time she spoke with her brother was about four hours before he went missing.

She pulled up their text conversation.

“I know he was OK at 5:05 p.m.,” Perez said.

According to Perez, King has diabetes and she’s concerned he may be out there without his insulin.
