Identity Theft Santa Rosa, CA Woman Sent to Prison

A Santa Rosa woman found with hundreds of pieces of stolen mail was sent to prison for eight years Thursday after she was convicted of identity theft.

Teresa Goode, 32, was arrested in August on suspicion of identity theft crimes, including stealing a man’s tax refund check from his mailbox earlier in the year. She had deposited the check into a bank account she opened using another stolen identity, later withdrawing the money, according to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office.

At the time of the arrest, Sonoma County deputies said they found forged checks and stolen IDs and mail in her home. Goode already was on felony probation for a previous conviction for cashing a stolen forged check, deputies said.

While on bail on those offenses in November, Goode was pulled over for a traffic violation. Law enforcement officials found in the car “hundreds of pieces of stolen mail inside several bags,” the District Attorney’s Office said. Authorities located bank statements, checks, credit cards, identification cards and mail containing personal identity information of nearly 200 victims, prosecutors said.

Goode pleaded guilty to seven felony charges in February. She also admitted to an enhancement for committing the crimes while out on bail, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

She was sentenced by Judge Jamie Thistlethwaite.

Pedophile Tracking Kansas City Man Gets 10 Years

A Kansas City man who prosecutors said intended to rape a 13-year-old girl has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Christopher D. Craig, 36, had been found guilty in December of attempted enticement of a child and attempted first-degree statutory rape. The two 10-year sentences, imposed Thursday, are to run concurrently.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Craig remains free on a $100,000 cash bond, pending appeal.

According to Platte County prosecutors, Craig had conducted several online conversations with a person he thought was the mother of a 13-year-old girl. That person, in fact, was a Platte County sheriff’s deputy.

Craig, according to prosecutors, had planned to rendezvous with the 13-year-old at a Platte County hotel and had emailed the deputy “a 15-point plan detailing the ways he would rape, sodomize and abuse the child.” The plan, prosecutors said, “graphically described various sex acts that Craig intended to inflict upon the child, including sadomasochistic abuse.”

Platte County sheriff’s deputies arrested Craig when he checked into a Platte County hotel on July 22, 2013. Craig carried with him several items that he had intended to use during his rendezvous with the child, according to prosecutors.

“Thank goodness this case did not involve an actual child, but the defendant made it very clear he would have completed the acts if given the opportunity,” said Eric Zahnd, Platte County prosecuting attorney.

“In all my years as a prosecutor, I have seen very few cases where a defendant’s plan to sexually abuse a child was so deliberate, so detailed and so disgusting. I believe this man is dangerous, and the public should be aware as long as he remains at large.”
