Drug Dog Sweep $683k in Hard Drugs Seized at AZ Border Crossings

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have seized $683,000 in heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine at Arizona ports from multiple smuggling attempts in the past week, according to the agency.

Officers the Dennis DeConcini crossing in Nogales arrested a 26-year-old woman Sunday after they found nearly six pounds of heroin, worth more than $79,000, hidden in a suitcase in her Chevrolet sedan, authorities said.

On Tuesday, officers at the Port of San Luis arrested 19-year-old Elidia Margarita Espero-Obeso from Victorville, Calif., after a drug dog led officers to nearly 40 pounds of cocaine, worth more than $432,000, stashed in a false-floor compartment of her Mitsubishi SUV, the CBP release said.

At the Port of Nogales on Wednesday, officers arrested Francisco Arturo Hernandez-Millanes, 45, from Hermosillo, Son., after a drug dog detected the presence of drugs in the rear bumper of the Ford Mustang he was driving, CBP said.

Officers pulled apart the rear bumper and found a compartment that contained 43 pounds of methamphetamine, worth more than $128,000, and three pounds of heroin worth about $44,000, the release said.

CBP seized the drugs and vehicles, and handed over each suspect to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

Wrongful Death 9 Dead in Biker Gang Shooting in Waco, TX

Three rival motorcycle gangs turned a local restaurant into a shooting gallery Sunday afternoon and when the gunfire was over, nine people were dead and several were injured.

Waco police Sunday afternoon, assisted by Department of Public Safety troopers, police officers from several cities and deputies from the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office were surrounding the Twin Peaks Restaurant, in the Central Texas Market Place after several people were reported shot during a rival motorcycle gang fight, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Police and troopers were in the parking lot trying to secure the area and protect citizens when a fight broke out inside the restaurant and spilled into the parking lot.

Swanton said the fight quickly escalated from fists and feet to chains, clubs and knives, then to gunfire.

Gang members were shooting at each other and officers at the scene fired their weapons, as well, Swanton said.

The scene at the Market Place between Don Carlos and Twin Peaks was absolute chaos, Swanton said.

The victims were taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Medical Center, which later was placed on lock down, but officials at Hillcrest said they had no comment.

He also said police have been trying to work with management at Twin Peaks for several weeks but have been thwarted in their efforts to avoid a situation like happened Sunday afternoon.

A witness who was having lunch across the parking lot at Don Carlos Mexican Restaurant said he and his family had just finished eating and walked into the parking lot when they heard several gunshots and saw wounded being taken from the fight scene.

“We crouched down in front of our pick-up truck because that was the only cover we had,” the man, who asked not to be identified, said.

He and his family were travelling to Selina, Kansas and decided to stop for lunch.

He said he saw several wounded men being treated.

He also said there were several police officers at the scene and ambulances were responding to the scene to aid those hit by gunfire.

At about 2 p.m. a second crime scene was being investigated at the Waco Convention Center but only very few details were known about the situation there.

One law enforcement spokesman said there were several armed officers and EMS units on the scene and Washington Avenue and University Parks Drive in that area had been closed.

A News 10 photographer who was at the convention center said he witnessed several men being arrested there.

Officers also were en route to the Flying J Truck Stop, at New Road and Interstate 35 because a large number of bikers had been seen gathering there.

Swanton said the scene at Twin Peaks is “as secure as it can be right now,” Swanton said, but police are concerned that groups who were involved in the first incident may be moving to other locations in and around Waco where more violence could erupt.

Swanton said citizens should avoid the area until an all clear can be issued.

The Interstate 35 exit onto Loop 340 southbound is closed, as is the access road that runs alongside the Interstate.

“We have multiple medical and law enforcement resources in the area who are dealing with the issue,” Swanton said.

Ambulances from West, Limestone and Coryell counties were at the scene to assist local EMS units.

Trouble at Twin Peaks among rival bikers had been brewing for some time, District Attorney Abel Reyna told News 10 about two weeks ago.

Reyna said local police were on heightened alert in anticipation of trouble on Thursday nights, when Twin Peaks hosts a Biker Night.

Reyna said some weeks ago trouble erupted between two local motorcycle gangs and that spilled over into gangs from the Dallas-Fort Worth area showing up to support the local groups.

Wrongful Death YouTube User Announces Reward in KY Native’s Murder

A reward is now being offered in the 2013 murder of a Kentucky man gunned down in Georgia.

In January 2013, Keith Ratliff, a 32-year-old Frankfort native was found dead in his home office in Carnesville, Georgia. Investigators said he had been shot once in the head and his body had been there for “some time” before it was discovered.

“Doesn’t seem real. Doesn’t seem real, today,” the victim’s father, Dick Ratliff told LEX 18’s Josh Breslow on Friday. “I thought maybe a year, something would happen.”

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

It’s been more than two years and no one has been charged with Ratliff’s murder.

Ratliff was well-known in the online firearms industry as a co-creator of the popular “FPS Russia” channel on YouTube. Dozens of videos there, focusing on firearms, have millions of hits.

Another big name in the online firearms industry, “Col. Richard Hunter” had only met Ratliff once, but said he felt compelled to do something to help with the unsolved murder.

In a 10-minute video posted to YouTube, Col. Hunter said he will offer a $5,000 reward for information leading the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who killed Ratliff.

“There is no justice in this case,” Col. Hunter said in the video. “One of us being murdered, especially with a firearm, we should come together on this. We should do whatever we have to for justice to happen. ”

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is in charge of the investigation. Anyone with information on Ratliff’s murder is asked to call (706) 552-2309.

Private Detective: Fast Food Worker Stole Ambulance and Bought Whiskey in Drive-Thru

Police say a Scott County fast food worker is in jail after stealing an ambulance and taking it on a joy ride.

It happened at the Paris Pike Wendy’s around 7 p.m. Thursday Night..

Georgetown police say Tara Anne Hughes is being held without bond after she left work at Wendy’s last night and stole an ambulance.

Police say Wendy’s employees suspected the 31-year-old was under the influence at work and sent her home. An ambulance crew happened to be eating at the same fast food restaurant when Hughes left. Police say as she was leaving work she somehow got into the ambulance which was left idling.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Hughes is accused of driving the ambulance a few miles through town to Bluegrass Liquor Box where she purchased a bottle of Fireball Whiskey in the drive through. The ambulance was too tall for the drive through and she tore the awning off the liquor store.

Hughes was arrested at a gas station. Police say Hughes was very intoxicated when they made that arrest and that she told them she thought she was driving her dad’s work truck, not an ambulance.
