Missing Person 2 Woman Still Missing In Separate Cases in Collin County, TX

In the weeks since two Collin County women have vanished without a trace, their families and friends have been hoping for the best but imagining the worst.

Almaz Gebremedhin, 42, has been missing for 25 days. The Wylie woman was last seen headed to work a little before 5:30 a.m. Oct. 2. A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured her silver Chevy minivan driving by. But she never made it to the nursing home less than three miles away.

Christina Morris, 23, has been missing for 58 days. Video surveillance shows the Fort Worth woman walking with a friend into a parking garage before they went their separate ways at The Shops at Legacy in Plano just before 4 a.m. Aug. 30. No one has seen her since. Her locked car was found in the garage four days later.

Police have found no evidence of a crime in either case. Nor has there been any activity on either woman’s cell phone, credit cards or bank accounts. For now, they remain classified as missing persons.

Plano police spokesman David Tilley said cases like these are a challenge to investigate.

“We treat all missing person cases as if a serious crime has been committed,” he said.

Detectives in both Wylie and Plano have been interviewing family, friends and witnesses in hopes of a clue. There have been extensive searches of the areas where they disappeared. And there have been pleas to the public for help in the disappearances.

Reward money — raised privately in both cases — is being offered for information on either woman’s whereabouts.

“We believe someone out there does know something, and we need them to call us,” Tilley said of the Morris case.

Both women are listed online in the Texas Department of Public Safety Missing Persons Clearinghouse. They also appear in the National Crime Information Center, a database accessible to law enforcement nationwide, as well as a public database called the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System.

The latter, according to NamUs director of communications Todd Matthews, is often used to match unidentified remains with a missing persons case. And while some families believe a listing there could be considered a concession that the person is dead, Matthews said, missing people on the list have turned up alive.

“A lot of people want them in there immediately … just because of the visibility,” he said of the database. “It’s definitely good for exposure.”

Wylie Detective Nuria Arroyo said Gebremedhin’s case has been difficult to work. “We don’t have a lot of information to go off of yet,” she said.

Detectives there have been tracking tips, she said, but so far, not many have come in.

Gebremedhin’s family and friends have searched on their own as well. They’ve checked the route she normally takes to work. They’ve handed out fliers. They recently hired a private investigation firm to help. Social media also plays a role in keeping her name and photo in the public eye.

“It really has been tough,” said Feyera Milkessa, a friend of the family. Gebremedhin has a husband, Sisay Zelelew, a 10-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter. Gebremedhin’s mother also lives with the family in Wylie.

Milkessa said he last saw Gebremedhin at a gathering about 10 days before she disappeared. She seemed happy, he said. “She’s a very, very sociable person,” Milkessa said. “She loves her family.”

Judy Houston is Gebremedhin’s supervisor at Garnet Hill Rehabilitation and Skilled Care. Gebremedhin is always smiling and friendly to her co-workers and the more than 100 residents at the nursing home where she dispenses medication as an aide, Houston said. Gebremedhin never missed work, so when she didn’t show up, people immediately became concerned, Houston said.

“I just wish they would find her,” Houston said.

Morris was reported missing on Sept. 2 when she didn’t show up after the Labor Day weekend at her job in marketing for a Fort Worth online dating firm. She is described as funny, loving and full of energy. If the roles were reversed and a friend of hers was missing, “she would be leading the charge,” her stepmother, Anna Morris, said.

Morris’ family and friends have posted fliers, conducted their own searches and enlisted the help of Texas Equusearch to look on foot and from the air with drones. They have been selling T-shirts and bracelets to raise money for their efforts. They have car magnets with her photo and pertinent details. They are also active on social media.

Most recently, they have been picketing the home of the man pictured in the surveillance video with Morris. Police have interviewed him. But he has declined to talk to Morris’ family on advice from an attorney, Morris’ stepmother said.

“We’re not accusing him of anything,” Anna Morris said. “I know it’s dramatic, but we’re trying to talk to him to let us know what he knows.”

Christina Morris has a beagle named Madden. He’s staying with family for now. Anna Morris said her stepdaughter never would have left Madden. Nor would she have gone so long without contacting her family, which includes a 26-year-old sister and a 16-year-old brother.

“We’re heartbroken,” Anna Morris said. “There’s no way we’re going to give up. We’re going to find her. We owe that to her.”

Officials have released the names of three of the four people killed in a Trigg County shooting Sunday.

Police say troopers found a married couple, their daughter and another man shot to death inside a home just before noon. Police say they think that fourth person was the shooter, and he either committed suicide or was killed.

Officials identified the couple and their daughter as Lindsey Champion, Joy Champion and Emily Champion.

Investigators say they think Vito Y. Riservato, 22, shot the three. It remains unclear how he was connected with the family.

Wrongful Death Man Accused Of Killing Brother Pleads Not Guilty

A driver accused of hitting and killing his own brother in Lexington over the weekend pleaded not guilty in court Monday.

William Watkins is facing reckless homicide and DUI charges in connection with the death of his brother, Bryan Watkins.

Police say around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, a black truck was driving down Woodview Drive when it hit 42-year-old Bryan Watkins. Court documents say the suspect claimed “the victim jumped in front of his vehicle” and he hit him. Officers described William as drunk and “belligerent”.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Family members of both men say the two brothers were very close and loved each other, but they got into a fight right before the accident happened.

LEX 18 has learned that the victim in this case, Bryan, is the same legally blind man cleared of charges last year in a deadly stabbing after a fight on Mark Avenue in Lexington.

A grand jury chose not to indict Bryan in the death of 22-year-old Steven Campbell, citing evidence of self defense. While Campbell’s family was never OK with that decision, Bryan’s family says he was not a violent man.

His sister-in-law says she wants Bryan to be remembered as a funny guy who loved his family and was trying to better his life through religion.

William Watkins didn’t want to speak from behind bars in the Fayette County Detention Center. He was appointed a public defender and is expected back in court on Nov. 5. His bond is set at $25,550.

Pedophile Tracking Anchorage Doctor Arrested For Molesting 3 Girls

A longtime Anchorage doctor was arrested Saturday on charges that he molested three young girls over a period of more than a decade.

Alaska State Troopers and Anchorage Airport Police arrested Clifford R. Merchant, 67, on an outstanding warrant as he entered Ted Stevens International Airport on Saturday, troopers said. He had an out-of-state flight booked, according to officials.

Merchant is charged with 11 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, three counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of attempted first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, all felonies.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Troopers said they first heard of the abuse in July, when a 12-year-old girl reported to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation that she had been touched inappropriately in the past by Merchant.

Interviews led troopers to two more victims, according to an online dispatch.

The charges stem from incidents between 2001 and 2013 involving three separate female victims, all under the age of 13, according to the indictment.

The alleged molestation took place at Merchant’s home in South Anchorage, his plane and his cabin at Shell Lake near Skwentna, according to court documents.

The alleged abuse took place when the victims were as young as 5 and as old as 12, according to charges. It’s not clear why the children were at Merchant’s residences or how they knew him.

Providence Alaska Medical Center said it had suspended physician privileges for Merchant, who worked in the hospital’s emergency department as a contract physician.

“Providence is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation and will notify the Alaska State Medical Board,” wrote Providence spokesman Mike Canfield in an e-mail.

Canfield did not provide information on Merchant’s tenure with the hospital, including whether he ever worked in other departments and how long he was employed there. An Anchorage Daily News article from 1993 describes Merchant as an “emergency room doctor at Providence Hospital.”

State business license documents show that Merchant is the majority owner of First Care Medical Centers LLC, which operates two walk-in medical clinics in Anchorage. He is also listed as a physician provider on the company’s website.

An email sent to a manager at First Care was not immediately returned Sunday.

At least one person was suspicious of Merchant years ago: In an online forum called Ripoff Report, an anonymous poster in 2008 claimed that the doctor had sexually abused their child. The post also claimed Merchant had been reported to the Office of Children’s Services.

Susan Morgan, a spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Social Services, which oversees OCS, said she could not comment “due to confidentiality laws.”

On Sunday afternoon, Merchant appeared in court at the Anchorage Correctional Complex jail court wearing a yellow prison jumpsuit.

Merchant told the magistrate that he had hired a private attorney. His bail was set for $500,000 with a required third-party custodian.

Pedophile Tracking Texas Man Gets 99 Years

A Texas man will spend 99 years in jail for yanking a little girl out of the shower and sexually assaulting her.

Juan Cerda Alvarado received the maximum sentenced Friday for the 2011 attack. The Fort Bend County man was previously found guilty for aggravated sexual assault, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Prosecutors said Alvarado attacked a child he had known for years. He walked into the bathroom while the 8-year-old was showering at her home, pulled her out and assaulted her.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The girl’s mom caught Alvarado when he left the bathroom. His clothes were wet, police said.

Prosecutor Jill Stotts said the girl was brave for coming forward, cooperating with police and telling her story.

“She is a wonderful little girl who has a lot to be proud of,” she said. “It took great courage to come forward and face her abuser. Because she was able to stand up for herself by telling what happened to her, she stood up for all child victims as well.”

Pedophile Tracking TX Man Confessed to Multiple Incidents

Police are investigating sexual abuse allegations after a man confessed the crimes against multiple children over 10 years in at least four different jurisdictions, including the city of Lacy Lakeview and the Texas State Technical College campus.

Damian R. Jensen, 37, had two indecency with a child sexual contact warrants issued under his name Friday afternoon after an investigation was opened by Lacy Lakeview police on alleged crimes stretching back to 1999, Chief John Truehitt said.

Police were called to a church in the 2200 block of Air Base Road on Sunday evening after Jensen told his preacher about the alleged crimes, Truehitt said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Officers arrested Jensen at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday on the charge of possession of a controlled substance after police reportedly found methamphetamine on him, and he allegedly confessed to the sexual abuse crimes on Monday. Lacy Lakeview officers turned over details of the confession to numerous other jurisdictions, including TSTC police and another department out of state.

If they are true, “the crimes are egregious,” Truehitt said. “We’re talking about victims who are adults now and were family members.”

“His confession is that he has molested kids in numerous locations over a long period of time,” Truehitt said.

TSTC served Jensen with a continued sexual abuse of a child warrant Monday while he was in custody at the McLennan County Jail, TSTC spokeswoman Eliska Smith said.

Smith said the warrant was based on part of the confession that involved two years, 2005 and 2006, while Jensen was attending the school and living on campus.

Truehitt said officers are committed to corroborating Jensen’s confession through other interviews and forensic evidence. He said the investigation is still in the early stages.

Truehitt said at least three incidents occurred on the TSTC campus, but he would not disclose more information about the other jurisdictions.

Jensen remained in the McLennan County Jail on Friday afternoon in lieu of a $110,000 bond.

Missing Person Kristin Bellomy of Boone County, WV

Telephone poles from Madison to Danville in Boone County, West Virginia are covered with missing person flyers. Kristin Bellomy, 17, left home on October 20 and hasn’t been heard from since.

“He found two letters one for me and one for him” says Heather Bellomy, Kristin’s mom.  Kristin left behind a message for each of her parents explaining why she decided to leave home. She is a senior this year at Scott High School and was facing a court date on October 21st for missing school too many times. Her parents believe that is the reason she decided to run away.   “That’s exactly what it was. She said in her own words that they were going to throw the book at her. I mean she is not in any trouble they even said that at the court house” says Heather Bellomy.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Deputies with the Boone County Sheriffs department are actively searching for Kristin and trying to track down electronic evidence to find her location. Even though it appears that she left voluntarily, the Sheriff’s Department is questioning her friends to see what they know.

While her family waits to hear any news from Kristin or the police, they plan to continue hanging flyers in hopes of bringing her home.  “We would like for her to call or just message someone on Facebook or something to let us know that she’s alright” says Wade Green, Kristin’s ex-boyfriend.If anyone has any information about Kristin Bellomy, they are asked to call the Boone County Sheriff’s Department at 1-304-369-7340

Kristin Bellomy has been missing since October 20th.
