Private Detective: Police Department Addresses Clown Craze

A police department in Montgomery County is cracking down on creepy roadside clowns.

Mount Sterling Police want people to know that using costumes to scare drivers is illegal.

The department posted to Facebook Thursday night, commenting on the calls officers have been getting:

“We have received reports of people dressing up like clowns tonight. We have also initiated traffic stops on some of the people doing this. People are saying they are doing this for fun. First of all, it is not fun for the victim. Second of all, it is a city ordinance violation to have your face covered with any type of mask other than during Halloween. Edit: There are religious exemptions and the original post did not state this. Finally, there is a possibility that you could be cited or arrested for disorderly conduct. Please use common sense in this matter.#MSPD”

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The post made its way around town and many people we spoke to said they never knew it was illegal. They’re glad police are cracking down.

“I think that they should get over it quick because they don’t realize what they’re doing to other people,” said Tony Steele, when commenting on the clowns.

Other departments around the Commonwealth are fed up with the trend too.

On Thursday, an officer in Bell County arrested a young man for standing in costume on the side of the road. Days before that, the jailer in Laurel County spotted two clowns and took their masks.

“There are actual dangers out there and you shouldn’t have to worry about people dressing like clowns as one of them.,” said Tristan Phillips, a resident of Mount Sterling.

Much like police, those spotting the clowns aren’t laughing either.

Wrongful Death Son Charged With Murder in Missing Lubbock, TX Woman’s Death

Lubbock police investigators believe 67-year-old Linda Wilhite, who was reported missing last month, was stabbed and beaten to death by her 46-year-old son, according to an arrest warrant issued Friday afternoon.

The warrant states Climer was upset with his mother over money.

Lubbock police investigators believe Kody Climer killed Linda Wilhite, who was last seen Aug. 16, at her home in the 6100 block of 38th Street.

An arrest warrant was served Friday to Climer, who has been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center on an unrelated aggravated assault charge. His bond on that charge is set at $50,000.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Lubbock police officials said Wilhite’s other family members called police Aug. 18, after not hearing from her, which was unusual behavior.

A police officer entered her home and found bloody fingerprints on a light switch near the closet within a bedroom.

The closet door was closed and the officer also saw blood on the front of the door, with a bloody trail leading inside the closet, where the officer found more items covered with blood.

“Inside the closet,” the report states, “he found what appeared to be human blood on the carpet, and on blankets and a pillow.”

Underneath the blankets, officers located towels with what appeared to be dried blood.

There was also evidence of blood throughout other parts of the residence.

Along, with blood in various parts of the home, police also located her prescription medication at the scene.

Her phone was nowhere to be found.

Four days before the missing person’s report, Climer is accused of slashing his ex-girlfriend’s tires at the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 5800 block of 34th Street, according to an arrest warrant.

Lubbock County grand jurors indicted Climer on Aug. 31 on a second-degree felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by threat.

The arrest warrant states Climer arrived at the store in a gold or tan SUV to meet with his ex-girlfriend.

Police found Wilhite’s vehicle — a tan 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe — Thursday in the area of 81st Street and Cedar Avenue.

The murder warrant comes with a $500,000 bond recommended by the Lubbock County District Attorney’s office.

Accident Reconstruction Fatal Crash Survivor Sends Text Instead of Calling 911

Family and friends of a Southern Indiana woman killed in a car wreck say reports from the incident are not adding up.

Nikki Reed, 37, of Seymour was killed after her SUV slammed into a tree Saturday. The driver, her boyfriend, Kevin Bell, 39, survived but wasn’t discovered until Tuesday after he crawled to safety three days after the crash.

Indiana State Police say that both Reed and Bell had cell phones on their person and before he was discovered, Bell sent a text to a co-worker saying ‘car accident’ on Monday, 24 hours before he was found.

Police and family members can’t figure out why Bell decided not to call 911.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

“That is a concern for us if he chose not to report this as soon as he possibly could,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles told WAVE 3 news.

A passerby who found Bell crawling on the side of the road called emergency officials to report the wreck. During that call, Bell never mentioned the crash. Police finally found the couple’s Explorer after arriving on the scene.

Inside they found Reed deceased.

Meanwhile, family members are struggling to figure out why Bell didn’t reach for help instead of texting his friends.

“If you can send a text message at 10 a.m., why couldn’t you call 911?” Reed’s cousin, Pam Smith, asked.

Police say Bell did have a warrant out of his home state of Pennsylvania but the warrant did not have extradition, meaning he would not have been arrested in Indiana where the crash occurred.

Bell remains hospitalized with injuries to his leg.

A man dressed in a clown costume was arrested walking around in Middlesboro, Bell County officials confirm.

The officer took Martin into custody where he was charged with wearing a mask in a public place and disorderly conduct.

Martin also had an existing bench warrant for failure to appear and non-payment. He is still in clown dress in his booking photo.

The arrest matches the circulation of photos of clowns alleged to be lurking around Kentucky.  Police have warned individuals against walking around and scaring people due to the dangers it could pose.

The costume Martin is picture wearing is identical to the one shown in this photo taken in Waco.

Wrongful Death Father Killed After Being Reunited with His Family

An emotional reunion between a father and his daughter was caught on camera but, hours later tragedy struck the Anderson County family.

Angel Myers says it took Humberto Hernandez a year and a half to come back to the Bluegrass after he was deported but he knew he wanted to surprise his four-year-old daughter, Celina.

Myers, Celina’s mother, says despite the distance Hernandez always kept in touch with their daughter.

On Friday, they surprised her with his homecoming, “when she was that choked up that she can barely say ‘daddy’ that made everything worth it.”

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

But in less than 24 hours their world collapsed.

Police say Jorge Garrete Serramo shot and killed Hernandez . Now Serramo is in jail charged with murder.

“He was such a great father,” Myers said. “I can’t even put it into words how good of a dad he was.”

As they hold on to those memories Myers hopes to raise enough money to give Hernandez a visitation so Celina can see her dad one last time to say goodbye.

Fraud Investigation Kansas City Man Pleads Guilty to Bank Fraud Conspiracy

Tyler Sutton, 54, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty before U.S. Chief District Judge Greg Kays to participating in a conspiracy to commit bank fraud, possession of counterfeit securities, possession of stolen mail, and identity theft. Sutton also pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated identity theft.

Sutton was a property manager residing in the 400 block of Gladstone Boulevard in Kansas City, although he only paid rent for one month and was evicted in October 2014. He used the house to conduct his illegal business by operating it as a flop house where he offered cash and/or drugs to drug addicts who brought him stolen mail, identities, addresses, credit card numbers and bank account information. Sutton often allowed the addicts to stay at the residence.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Sutton also unlawfully obtained identity and account information belonging to other persons and businesses by stealing these items from businesses and from the mail. Sutton and co-conspirators used the stolen identity information to create counterfeit identifications and checks, which were cashed at retail stores and financial institutions.

Sutton did not usually create counterfeit identifications and checks himself, nor did he personally present counterfeit identifications and cash checks. Rather, he instructed others in the making and presenting of counterfeit identifications and checks, and shared the illegal proceeds with his co-conspirators. In this manner, Sutton attempted to insulate himself from liability.

Sutton admitted that the intended loss amount was $83,981.

Co-defendants Gary K. Keesler, 37, and Chad M. Mills, 28, both of Kansas City, MO, and Christopher Hite, 33, of Windsor, MO, have pleaded guilty to their roles in the conspiracy and have been sentenced.

Under federal statutes, Sutton is subject to a sentence of up to five years in federal prison without parole for the conspiracy, plus a mandatory consecutive sentence of two years in federal prison without parole for aggravated identity theft. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen D. Mahoney. It was investigated by the Kansas City, MO, Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
