Wrongful Death Two Charged in Connection With Death of Officer Ellis Face Judge

Two people charged with attempted robbery in connection with the shooting death of Officer Jason Ellis also went before a judge Thursday.

It was a quick appearance for two people charged in connection to the shooting death of Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis. Carl Banks and Rita Creech were in court for a pre-trial conference for robbery charges they both are facings. They both had their hearings continued until next month.

Richmond police say Carl Banks was driving the getaway car during the robbery that officer Daniel Ellis was investigating when he was shot back in November.

Officials say Raleigh Sizemore, the man who is accused of shooting Ellis, is the one who committed the attempted robbery.

Ellis and another officer tracked Sizemore to an apartment where he was inside with Gregory Ratliff and Rita Creech.

Next for Banks and Creech is a hearing on June 23rd where hopefully a trial date for both of them will be set. Ratliff and Sizemore who are both charged in the death of Ellis are due in court tomorrow.

The woman accused of killing her elderly parents earlier this month is scheduled faced a judge Thursday.

Lynette McQuinn, also known as Renee, attended a preliminary hearing. McQuinn is accused of shooting 70-year-old  Robert John McQuinn and 66-year-old Ada Pearl McQuinn in their home on Wilson Lane at 11:30 a.m.

Prosecutors say that the way her parents were found murdered is the exact way McQuinn had previously threatened to kill them in the past.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Lynette’s sister Cristina found the bodies.

“I check on them every morning and I came across the street to check on them. And I walked in and seen them, I found them that way,” said Cristina.

Kentucky State Police said they had both been shot.  Cristina said she immediately knew her sister was responsible.

“She’s been mentally ill our whole lives and she has planned this. She planned it, that’s why they made her leave the last time she came here. She told them how she was going to kill them,” Cristina told LEX 18.

Detectives in court said that text messages prove that McQuinn was at the victims’ home around 1:20 a.m.  The murder weapon, a 9 mm Ruger was recovered in a field not far from the crime scene.

Missing Person Body of Missing Rapid City, SD Woman Found

On May 13th of 2016, Detectives of the Rapid City Police Department were notified by the Newcastle Police Department that a witness had come forward with knowledge of a homicide that took place in May of 2015 and could show law enforcement where the victim’s body had been buried.

Detectives of the RCPD and Investigators with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office made contact with the witness. The witness was able to direct law enforcement to an undisclosed location south of Rockerville. A grid search was conducted, and two gravesites were located. Evidence specialists from the RCPD and the SD Division of Criminal investigation were called in to process both sites, and the body of the victim was located in one of the sites.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The victim is identified as 22-year-old Jessica Rehfeld of Rapid City. The RCPD called on the public’s help to locate Rehfeld as a missing person on May 22nd, 2015.

After Jessica was located, the priority then shifted to locating the suspects responsible for her death. Information garnered in the subsequent investigation led law enforcement to focus on three suspects. These suspects have been arrested on charges of First Degree Murder. They are identified as:

  •          26-year-old Jonathon Klinetobe of Sturgis
  •          24-year-old David Schneider of Rapid City
  •          35-year-old Richard Hirth of Rapid City

All three have been interviewed, and information garnered in the investigation outlines to a case of murder-for-hire. Detectives and investigators believe Jonathon Kinetobe offered David Schneider and Richard Hirth thousands of dollars for Jessica’s murder. Klinetobe is an ex-boyfriend of Jessica’s.

On May 18th, 2015, David and Richard offered to give Jessica a ride to where she worked. Instead, they drove her to a secluded service road on Rapid City’s northeast side where she was stabbed to death. Her body was placed in a bag, and the two men picked up Jonathan Klinetobe at his house before heading to the burial site south of Rockerville. That night, the three men buried Jessica.

Within the span of about two weeks, Klinetobe solicited the help of two more suspects in an effort to further hide Jessica’s body. They are identified as:

  •          24-year-old Michael Frye of Rapid City
  •          29-year-old Garland Brown of Rapid City.

These two men helped Jonathan Klinetobe move Jessica’s body and place it in a second grave site nearby. Both Frye and Brown have now been arrested for Accessory to First Degree Murder.

“All of this information has come to light in a matter of of days, thanks to the cooperative and dedicated work of dozens of personnel from multiple local law enforcement agencies,” said Captain James Johns of the RCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. “Hundreds of man-hours were spent over this past weekend to work to understand the details and motivations behind this homicide.“

This incident spans a wide area, and highlights the close working relationship our agencies have when it comes to holding these offenders accountable of their crimes. It all started with help from the Newcastle Police Department. Personnel from the Rapid City Police Department’s evidence section and specialists from the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation spent hours out in the field alongside detectives and investigators working to painstakingly process the burial sites. Deputies of the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office stepped up to provide hours of scene security as the sites were processed. Deputies of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office worked with the RCPD and PCSO to safely apprehend a Richard Hirth, who was located living in St. Onge.

“It’s difficult work, and it’s grueling work,” said PCSO Chief Deputy Willie Whelchel. “Black Hills residents should be proud of the exhausting effort these men and women are putting in while the rest of the community sleeps, and we’re all certainly thankful these dangerous individuals are now off the streets.”

This is still a very-much open and active investigation. Anyone with any further information about this case is uged to contact police investigations at 394-4134. You can also send an anonymous tip by texting the letters ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.

Identity Theft Skimmers Found at Lexington Gas Station

A gas pump skimmer was found at a Lexington gas station.

Employees at the Marathon on West Main Street say that they discovered the skimmer Tuesday afternoon.

Lexington police tell LEX 18 that skimmers have been a problem for about five years now.

Thieves use the skimmers to steal personal information at gas pumps.

This time, instead of placing the skimmer on the outside of the pump, the thieves used keys to get inside of the pump. Police say that the thieves possibly bought the key online.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The skimming devices were hidden from the public eye and employees didn’t notice them at first.

Lexington police say their Financial Crimes Unit will now contact banks to give them a heads up about the crime.

“We can notify those banks that the numbers have been copied down and the banks can put an alert it,” said Mike Helsby with the Financial Crimes Unit.

Lexington police say to always check and make sure that the security tape on the openings of the gas pump machines has not been compromised.

Identity Theft CA Couple Caught With Carload of ID Theft Evidence

For at least the second time in three months, a Lake Elsinore parolee and a Winchester woman have been caught with a carload of evidence suggesting mail and identity theft, this time in Temecula, according to law enforcement officials and jail records.

Most recently 25-year-old Jacob Bertino and 29-year-old Ashley Lawrence were arrested at 12:49 p.m. Thursday, May 12, and booked for investigation of committing a felony while on bail, possessing stolen property, identity theft, and drug possession, jail records show.

Deputies spotted them getting out of a car along Moreno Road, southwest of Interstate 15 and Rancho California Road.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

After learning that Bertino was on parole, deputies searched the vehicle and found apparently stolen mail, credit cards, personal checks, ATM cards, California drivers licenses and identity cards, and amphetamine, Sgt. Chris Gaskins said in a written statement released Monday.

On Feb. 16, the pair was arrested in a Corona foothill community along the 3800 block of Holly Springs Drive, just below the mouth of Main Street Canyon, Corona police said at the time.

On that occasion, their vehicle contained apparently stolen credit cards, social security cards, altered checks, Amazon packages, and filed containing information on many people, investigators said.

Private Detective: Man Kills Wife, Blames High Medicine Prices

A Florida man says he shot his sick wife because she was in pain and he could no longer afford her medication, according to WPTV in Florida.

Detectives in Port St. Lucie say William Hager was remorseful when he told them he shot and killed his wife, but he said he couldn’t afford to get her the medical help she needed.

It was a last resort, he told police. Hager’s wife Carolyn suffered with chronic medical problems including arthritis for around 15 years.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Chief Deputy Gary Wilson, of the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office, told WPTV, “We don’t see it in situations like this where there’s a death involved but we frequently get called to different locations for different problems where people are at their wits end, trying to figure out how they’re going to makes ends meet, how they’re going to cover medical.”

The sheriff’s office says there are drug manufacturers who offer help for people struggling to pay for their medications.

Hager is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

Pedophile Tracking Missoula Man Caught in Sex Sting

Christopher Michael Cooper, who posted child pornography on social media a month after receiving a fully suspended sentence after being arrested as part of an undercover law enforcement sex sting, has been sentenced to prison.

In 2015, Missoula District Court Judge Karen Townsend had given Cooper a 25-year sentence, all suspended, for a felony count of sexual abuse of children after he was one of seven people arrested in a 2013 undercover sex-sting operation conducted in Missoula. In that incident Cooper, who had come to town from Washington, went to a home believing he would be meeting a 12-year-old girl for sex, but he found only law enforcement officers who had set up the online post, waiting for him.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

In April 2015, a month after receiving the suspended sentence, Cooper was arrested and charged with posting pornographic images of children on multiple Twitter accounts.

In January, without a plea agreement, Cooper pleaded guilty to violating the terms of his probation from the sex sting sentence and to eight new felony charges from his April 2015 arrest.

In Missoula County District Court on Monday, Townsend sentenced him to 30 years in the Montana State Prison with 15 years suspended for the eight new charges of sexual abuse of children. She also revoked his suspended sentence from the previous case and reimposed it as 25 years in prison with 10 suspended.

He will receive credit for 285 days already served in custody.
