Wrongful Death Fourth Person Arrested in Murder of Pizza Delivery Driver

A fourth person has been charged in connection to the death of a Frankfort pizza delivery driver.

Police have arrested 18-year-old Cameron Montgomery and charged her with conspiracy to commit robbery. Police allege that Montgomery as well as 18-year-old Brooke Kennedy are accused of setting up a drug sale with 21-year-old Jared Banta. According to an arrest citation, the narcotics sale was cover for a robbery.

Banta was shot and killed. His body was found in a vehicle parked on Schenkel Lane near the Country Hills Apartments.

Two juveniles were also charged in the case.

The coroner said in a news conference that it appears Banta had suffered from a gunshot wound.  Police say nearby tire marks indicated he may have tried to escape his killer.

Kennedy has been charged with first-degree robbery. One juvenile is facing robbery charges and the other is charged with complicity to commit robbery.

Kennedy and Banta were high school classmates. Kennedy pleaded not guilty in court Thursday. Her bond was set at $100,000 full cash. Her attorney told the judge she was not present during the robbery.

Missing Person Celebration of Life Planned in Honor of Missing Fleming Co. Man

The mother of a missing Fleming County man is organizing a celebration of life in his honor.

Wesley Mattox has been missing since October 12. His mother, Jean, says that she believes his body was recently found.

People decorating a grave-site in a cemetery on December 22 spotted a body in the woods. The police chief said that the body had been there for weeks and it was badly decomposed. Jean was taken to the area after the scene was cleared.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“All I could do is stand there and cry and think about him,” said Jean.

Now she is certain that the body is that of her son Wesley. She is putting together a Celebration of Life on Friday.

During the service, Jean will encourage people who knew him best to share good memories and funny stories. She says that is what Wesley would have wanted.

“I told them all to just dress casual,” said Jean.  “Wear your jeans and t-shirt like you boys always ran around.”

The visitation will begin at 11 on Friday, with the service starting at 1. If the body is positively identified as Wesley, Jean told LEX 18 he will be created.

“I am going to take him and put him where he always wanted to be, and I have the land owner’s permission,” said Jean.

The body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy and identification. Jean said that the service will go on, even if an ID is not made by then.

Authorities say Dunn and Jason Simon left Idaho with three children after they realized detectives were looking for Simon in connection with a child pornography investigation.

Two of the children, ages 9 and 10, are Dunn’s, while Simon is the father of the third child, a 6-year-old boy.

Private Detective: Man Arrested After Standoff in Georgetown

Deputies say that a man has been arrested after a standoff situation that happened Wednesday morning at Lakeside Court.

Neighbors tell LEX 18 that the incident started when 37-year-old Brent Feck went door-to-door knocking frantically.

Deputies say that they arrived at the scene and tried to calm Feck down, when all of a sudden, he started talking about killing them.

They say that he then ran inside of his home and came back out with a safe that he claimed had a gun inside.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Neighbors say that they saw Feck shaking the box and trying to unlock it with a code. The neighbors claim Feck even ripped the prongs of a taser out of his skin twice.

“He’s threatened the cop like that, and goes like that and the cop says ‘just back off we’re just trying to calm you down.’ And what happened is he went back, banged the door five times, and it sounded like a shotgun like five times with a shotgun, I don’t know,” said Sarah Ramano.

Feck was eventually tackled by police officers and detained inside of the home.

Neighbors say that they are very pleased with how the police officers handled the situation and that they felt very safe during the standoff.

Pedophile Tracking Troy, OH Man Gets 20 Years to Life

A previously convicted sex offender was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years to life in prison for repeatedly raping a 5-year-old boy, a crime that prompted a prosecutor to say the man should never be released.

William Thomas Baker, 44, of Piqua and formerly of Troy, initially was charged in September with 10 felony counts of rape. He later pleaded guilty to two rape charges.

“Quite frankly, the English language doesn’t contain words that would adequately describe the danger this defendant presents to the public,” Judge Christopher Gee said.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

Gee made the comments before sentencing Baker to the maximum sentence.

A report by Troy police said a Piqua police detective contacted them Sept. 7 about a possible rape involving Baker that allegedly occurred in Troy.

Police reported Baker told them that evening the initial contact with the child was “accidental” but that later incidents were not. The alleged abuse took place between June and August in Troy, according to the charges.

Baker previously was convicted of sex offenses against a 10-year-old and served four years in prison prior to release in 2005.

Before the sentencing Tuesday, Baker said he was sorry and wanted to ask for help.

Janna Parker, an assistant Miami County prosecutor, asked for the maximum sentence.

“This is one of the most upsetting police reports I have read in a long time,” she said.

Parker pointed to Baker’s claim to police that initial rapes were an accident and the repeated sexual assaults of the child.

“It is so shocking, so upsetting,” she said, adding, “We ask and hope that the defendant is never released from prison.”

Baker also was classified as a Tier III sex offender, requiring lifetime registration of his address with the sheriff’s office every 90 days after prison release. He will receive credit for 112 days served in jail.
