Accident Reconstruction Two Dead in Bath Co. Car Accident

There has been a single vehicle accident on US 60 near KY 537 in Bath County.

Police say that there were three people in the SUV that was headed west on Owingsville Road not far from the Montgomery Line, when it went off the road. The driver died on scene and one of the passengers died at the UK Medical Center. The third person in the car refused treatment at the scene.

Police say that the car went through a fence, causing a piece of wood to come through the windshield and kill the driver.

Rain has fallen in this area for most of the day; this has lowered visibility and made the road incredibly wet. Police believe that weather did play a role in this accident.

“People need to slow down. We see wrecks all the time. They go around that curve too fast. Not always fatal,” said Bennis Dunn, who lives in the area. “We’ve seen three or four wrecks around there. Usually not deadly. But there have been several wrecks in that area. It’s sad, just sad.”

Traffic was down to one lane. No word yet who the victims are.

Private Detective: Woman Steals Jewelry From Nursing Homes

Federal investigators are on the trail of a Polish immigrant who has stolen priceless pieces of jewelry from nursing homes across the country and maybe even Canada. She even stole from a nursing home here in Lexington.

The woman has allegedly stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars in jewelry in 10 different states.

A relative of someone living at The Lafayette on Mason Headley took a photo of the woman back in July, saying that something just didn’t seem right about her.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“Who would’ve thought that?  Who would’ve thought they’d come to a retirement home of old people and rob them?” Glendola Runis asked. Runis said that when she encountered the woman, she rushed out speaking in a heavy accent. It was then Runis noticed several rings and necklaces were missing.

Detectives in Lexington were originally struggling to come up with a name of the mystery woman.

Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department said it wasn’t until Thursday that there was a break in the case. He got a tip from a detective in Gainesville, Fl. That detective had linked the Lexington photo of the woman, to video footage in North Carolina.

Same woman, same crime.

After that, they were able to link her to heists in Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota and Texas.

“We believe her birthplace is Poland, she’s immigrated to Ontario Canada and then crossed the border into the United States,” said Thomas.

Authorities in Dallas have been tracking her since 2005 with no luck.

“Being of polish descent she’s able to come up with a lot of names, half a page worth that we’re starting to track these individual names from one area to the next,” said Thomas.

Authorities hope they can link her to other cases of stolen jewelry at nursing homes in Kentucky.

Police believe she is working with an older woman and a man who drives their getaway car.

Detectives stress that people must call immediately if they see the suspects.

Wrongful Death Woman Charged With Plotting Mother’s Murder Asks Judge to Reduce Her Sentence

A Georgetown woman serving 25 years for plotting the murder of her mother wants to leave prison early.

In 2005, Stephanie Olson cried before a judge as he sentenced her to 25 years in prison for plotting to murder her mother, Diane Snellen. Snellen was stabbed 27 times in her Gergetown home.

Olson denied any involvement, but the jury did not believe her.

Her boyfriend at the time was convicted of carrying out the actual killing. He is serving 20 years in prison.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Olson’s attorney Brent Cox said that after 10 years in prison, Olson is saying that it isn’t as unbearable as she thought it would be, but that she would rather be on the outside.

Olson has filed a motion asking a judge to lower her sentence from 25 to 10 years. She claims that her punishment is too harsh considering the fact she didn’t carry out the crime. She also said that she has had to overcome “addiction issues” and that since she has completed training and educational programs, she believes she is deserving of a lesser sentence.

A Collinsville man faces sentencing in January after pleading guilty in federal court to sexually exploiting and enticing two underage girls.

Derick Dean Brown, 24, pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual exploitation of a child and enticement. His sentencing date has been scheduled for Jan. 8, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

At a change-of-plea hearing, Brown admitted that in March he communicated with a girl in Montana via text messaging and the Internet and enticed her to produce a sexually explicit video, the release states.

Additionally, Brown admitted that from January to March 2015, he communicated via cellphone and the Internet with a girl in Oklahoma and enticed her to engage in sexual activity, according to the release.

Brown faces 15 to 30 years in prison for the sexual-exploitation charge. The enticement charge carries a minimum penalty of 10 years to life in prison, according to the release.

As part of his sentence, Brown’s Ford Mustang, which he used to commit or facilitate the enticement offense, will be forfeited to the U.S. government, the release states.

The FBI and the Tulsa Police Department investigated the case. It was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, according to the release.
