Insurance Fraud CA Man Arrested in New Orleans

A California man was arrested Friday in New Orleans and accused of selling fraudulent workers compensation and employers liability insurance policies throughout Louisiana, Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said Monday.

Terry Francis Savoy, 50, of Los Angeles, is charged with five counts of theft by means of fraudulent conduct, four counts of forgery, seven counts of forgery of certificates of insurance, and six counts of illegal transmission of monetary funds.

http://liarcatchers.com/insurance_fraud.html

The arrest comes as a result of a joint investigation involving the Attorney General’s Investigations Division, Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, Houma Police Department, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau, and CNA Insurance Security Fraud Division.

Savoy, operating under the business known as NTRUST Financial, contracted with small health care provider businesses to handle payroll. After traveling to Louisiana and establishing contact with potential victims, Savoy would sell fraudulent insurance policies. He would then have the victims wire money to California to purchase the fraudulent policies. After receiving payment, Savoy would not provide any original insurance documents or monthly premiums.

Instead, he provided the victims only a fraudulent fact sheet of the policy and a fraudulent bank letter of credit. Thousands of dollars were stolen as a result of this scam.

Savoy was apprehended in Los Angeles on May 2 and was extradited to New Orleans on Friday. He was then arrested on outstanding warrants for violations in Ouachita, Orleans, Terrebonne and Bossier parishes. Savoy was booked in the Orleans Parish Prison.

The Attorney General’s Office is continuing to identify other potential victims. Anyone who purchased a policy from Savoy and did not receive the policy or premiums is asked to call (225) 326-6100 or (504) 471-2863.

Wrongful Death Two Men Indicted in 2012 Clark Co. Murder

An indictment has come down in a 2012 murder case.

Brandon Guy, 27, and Aaron Spencer, 24, have been indicted on murder, tampering with physical evidence and arson.

Investigators say Brandon Guy and Aaron Spencer torched Kenneth Payton’s home back on Oct. 21, 2012.

Officials say Payton was apparently a victim of assault prior to the fire.

According to the Winchester Sun, detectives testified that Payton’s long-time girlfriend, Pamela Cantor, told them that she and the three men were drinking inside the home and there was a fight that night.

Both Guy and Spencer are being held in the Clark County Detention Center.

Private Detective, Pulaski Co. Man Charged With Attempted Murder of His Brother

A Pulaski County man faces an attempted murder charge after investigators say he shot several times at his own brother, barely missing him.

The victim, James Abbott, took cover inside his home on Young Rd., Sunday night. Locked inside James made a frantic phone call to 911.

“You need to send an officer, right now. My brother’s out here shooting a gun,” said Abbott.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The suspect was identified as the caller’s own brother, Rodney Abbott. His brother told the dispatcher that the 44-year-old suspect kicked the door of the home, then busted out some glass, trying to get inside.

As the 911 call continues, several gunshots are heard:

Dispatcher: “Sir, hello sir. Have you been shot?”
Caller: “It just grazed my leg.”

The shot ripped through James Abbott’s pant leg and hit a refrigerator in the home.

Investigators say before this all happened, Rodney Abbott called his mother, saying he was going to kill James.

The suspect eventually fled the scene and a constable was able to stop and arrest Rodney Abbott just down the road.

Arson Invesigation Man Charged in 3 Deaths Was Family Acquaintance

For firefighter Tim Goble, losing his 8-year-old daughter, his mother and stepfather in a house fire over the weekend is something he still can’t come to terms with.

“It just seems unreal, like a nightmare I’m waiting to wake up from,” he said.

Goble says his daughter, Trinity, lived with his mother, Tina, and his stepfather, Junior. All three were inside the home when it went up flames Sunday.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

“The fire was just doing what fire does,” he said. “I can only blame the person who set the fire.”

According to a citation, state police arrested 41-year-old Jack Smith in connection to the fire on Upper James Lane. He’s facing three counts of murder, one of robbery, and one of tampering with evidence among other charges.

Goble says Smith was a family acquaintance.

“I quickly found out that there’s no way to ever, ever prepare for something like this,” he said.

He says Trinity had just started the third grade and he was supposed to spend the day watching basketball with her. Instead, he’s picking out headstones and remembering the inseparable bond all three shared.

“Honestly, those three were inseparable,” he said.

Private Detective, Thieves Stole Bibles Out of Lexington Car

Car thieves strike again in a Lexington neighborhood, only this time they stole somethings that many of us could never imagine taking – bibles.

Unfortunately, it’s not the first time the Falins fell victim to a car break in. In fact, they say they don’t even lock their car doors to avoid repairing the damage left behind.

It was early Sunday morning when the Falins were on their way to church as they do every weekend when they realized something irreplaceable went missing.

“They didn’t take anything we could see, maybe a couple of CD’s, but this time they took our bibles,” said Lynda Falin.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Lynda Falin says her husband’s bible is more than 40-years old and for her birthday, he had given her one too and written a special scripture inside.

The last time their car was broken into, the thieves ripped off the door and stole only change. Lynda thinks this time they mistook the bibles as electronics, and while the bibles may not be worth much to someone else, they’re invaluable to the family.

Lynda says whoever stole them needs to make it right.

“I hope you read them because maybe you’re lost and need to be saved, and maybe that bible is going to tell you how to. We are not wanting to prosecute, we just want our bibles back,” she said.

The Falins are missing two bibles. One is in a red case and the other in a black case. If you have any information on what happened to their books, please give LEX 18 a call.

Pedophile Tracking Disturbing Items Found in House of Twins

LEX 18 has uncovered more details about what police found inside the house of two twin brothers, former Scout leaders, who were arrested on child porn charges last week.

An LEX 18 crew got ahold of the first search warrant executed at Jack and Jerry Cassidys’ home on Madon Headly, much of which is too graphic to be mentioned.

The search warrant details a disturbing and sorted picture of the alleged hidden lives of the brothers. According to the warrant, police found evidence inside their home indicating the 76-year-old twins made pornographic videos, pictures and films with young boys. Some of the items were seized and included VHS tapes, papers with names and birth dates, a poem book about each child and two books containing logs of sexual abuse along with a “show me book.” Much of the evidence was found in a bedroom closet and dresser, the document stated.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The warrant also revealed photos police found of naked children with stickers on them describing each picture. The stickers are so degrading and graphic LEX 18 choose not to share them.

Police also found photos of young boys tied up and photos of the Cassidys’ tied up by young boys. In those photos, the brothers were also naked.

What’s not clear is when these alleged activities took place and just who the victims are.

Last week, police asked the public to come forward with information if they were victims of the Cassidy brothers.

Pedophile Tracking Former Football Coach Charged 20 Years Later

A former Pulaski County football coach is facing sex abuse charges for a crime he allegedly committed more than 20 years ago.

56-year-old Dale Anderson was arrested Friday in Louisville charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy back in 1993, according to a Louisville TV station.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The victim is now an adult and says Anderson abused him continually from the time he was 11 until he left to coach at Southwestern High School in 1993.

Anderson abruptly resigned from Southwestern in 2011 when the FBI started investigating him. He now faces charges of sodomy, sexual abuse and attempted sodomy.
