Private Detective: Detectives Find Footage of Robber Thanks to Unique Shoes

A robber’s choice of shoes may have made it easier for detectives to find him.

The man did not raise any red flags for people in the Lexington Food Market near Third and Race Streets. He bought a small purchase and left the store.

“About 20 minutes later, another subject shows up which we believe is the same person, but this time he’s changed his sweatshirt to where he’s now concealed,” Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department told LEX 18’s Kristen Pflum.

He rushes in with his gun pointed at the clerk’s face; he gets the money and runs out.

He didn’t change his pants or his bright orange sneakers.

The detectives were able to rewind the tape and get a clear shot of his face.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

You can call in an anonymous tip to (859) 253-2020.

Private Detective: EMS Workers Fight Off Burglar

First responders in Lincoln County found a real surprise in an ambulance over the weekend, when a burglar who was hiding inside. The EMS workers said the man brawled with them, sending two EMT’s and a paramedic to the hospital on Saturday.

They spend their lives, saving lives, however on Saturday afternoon three Lincoln County EMS workers were the ones in need of help.

“I still think it was saving people, because it was us that needed saving at that point,” said Jim Neikirk, a paramedic in Lincoln County.

Jim Neikirk, Ryan Childers and Corey Floyd were working their typical 24 hour shift, when dispatch let them know their other station in McKinney might have been burglarized. Thinking it happened the night before, they thought it was safe to check it out at around noon on Saturday.

“Five gallon buckets stacked up and somebody had went through the back window. And we still thought probably some kids or something broken in,” said Neikirk.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The sheriff said it was actually 24-year-old Levi May, and the EMS workers were about to catch him in the act.

“Check the other rooms and nobody is there, then walk in here and see somebody in the back of our trucks,” said Corey Floyd, an EMT in Lincoln County.

The EMS workers said they saw a man in the ambulance, and once they got to the back of the vehicle, he was standing at the back door.

“As soon as we grabbed onto him, the fight was on. And you couldn’t tell what he was thinking, was he trying to get to a gun was he trying to get to a knife?” said Neikirk.

The trio said they fought with May for five to ten minutes, and then he tried to fight deputies once they arrived.

“He was aggressive at the same time, coming at us, and you couldn’t tell what he had and he had some bags of our stuff in his hands,” said Floyd.

“It turned out he had a pocket knife, a pair of scissors, two hypodermic and a couple of extra needles,” said Childers.

The EMS workers said their ambulance was trashed. Their supplies were tossed and needles were used. Plus, they said medicine, including some narcotics, was missing.

“He just demolished it,” said Neikirk.

Now Levi May is under arrest. The Lincoln County Sheriff said he is charged with three counts of assault, burglary and having controlled substances.

The EMS workers went to the hospital as a precaution, however besides a few bumps and bruises, the men are back to saving lives and sending a message.

“Don’t go in EMS stations looking for drugs, because they are not going to let you have them,” said Neikirk.

Private Detective: Former Soldier Guilty of Illegal Export of Defense Article and Violating The Arms Export Control Act

A Former United States Army Soldier, who served in that capacity in Iraq and elsewhere, pleaded guilty today, in United States District Court, to violating the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and to the Illegal Export of Defense Article, announced United States Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr.

Defendant Hunter Perry, age 33,  of Louisville, Kentucky participated in a conspiracy to sell and export defense articles on the United States Munitions List (USML) to individuals located outside the United States. Specifically, beginning no later than May 2008, and continuing through September 2012, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, in Texas, and elsewhere, Perry and others, falsified customs documents to export night vision goggles, scopes, and tubes, to individuals outside of the United States. Perry was charged by federal information on December 30, 2015.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Further, in order to accomplish the conspiracy, Perry falsified shipping documents to state that he was exporting equipment other than defense articles in order to escape detection of his shipments by the United States. Payments for the equipment were made through PayPal accounts associated with eBay and through bank wire transfers.

According to court records, Perry communicated with email and agreed to ship items and did ship items, without obtaining an export license issued by the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), to persons at addresses in the United Kingdom, Poland, and Japan.

Perry further pleaded guilty to four counts of violating the Illegal Export of Defense Article. On April 6, 2011, in Jefferson County, Perry exported a defense article, a D-760 night vision scope, to the United Kingdom, which was a defense article on the USML, without having first obtained from the Department of State a license for such export or written authorization for such export.  Perry violated the Illegal Export of Defense Article again on January 12, 2012, when he shipped, from Jefferson County, a defense article, a PAS-23 mini-thermal scope, and on February 28, 2012, exported from the Jefferson County, to the United Kingdom, a defense article, that is a PVS-15 night vision binocular, and again on August 1, 2012, Perry shipped, from Jefferson County, a defense article, a PAS-13 thermal scope to the United Kingdom.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Bryan Calhoun and was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service.

Wrongful Death Man Convicted in Death of Lexington Police Officer Denied Parole

The man convicted in the death of a Lexington Police Officer has been denied parole and cannot try again for two years.

Glenn Doneghy went before the state parole board Monday and Tuesday morning.  Doneghy was convicted of the 2010 death of Officer Bryan Durman. Doneghy ran over Durman with his SUV while he responded to a domestic disturbance.

Brandy Durman, wife of Officer Bryan Durman  took to social media to ask for support in keeping the man behind bars.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“The parole hearing for the individual who murdered Bryan will be held Feb 15th at 10:30 a.m. We would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time. If you are unable to attend the hearing in person, a letter in support of keeping this man behind bars would be appreciated,” writes Durman.

Durman asked the board why she had to continue to beg for her husband’s killer to remain behind bars.

“Where is the justice in releasing Glenn Doneghy from prison? He brutally killed my husband. If  he is released I’m afraid another officer will be killed like Daniel Ellis,” Durman said in an emotional plea.

Doneghy appeared before the parole board for about 45 minutes Tuesday, but he refused to discuss Officer Durman’s death because he is currently appealing his conviction. He also challenged the board’s accuracy about his criminal history.

Durman has also started a petition on change.org to keep Doneghy in jail.

Doneghy has been denied parole once before. Even if he serves out the remainder of his sentence, he has less than 7 years left. He cannot apply for parole for two more years.

Private Detective: Nicholasville Police Looking For Man Who Broke Into Zaxby’s

The Nicholasville Police Department is asking for the public’s help in tracking down a man who broke into the Zaxby’s.

The burglary happened around 12:30 Monday morning. Video surveillance shows that the burglar entered the location on US 27 and realized he was being recorded. He then moved the surveillance camera and stole some cash.

“We haven’t had any commercial burglaries like this in quite some time,” said Officer Grimes with the Nicholasville Police Department. “So we don’t know what’s going on with him.  He may have had some insider information.  He may have worked there.  We don’t know.”

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

While the camera did give police a look at the burglar, their biggest clue in tracking him down was the fact he knew where the camera was. They think he may have had knowledge of the business.

Officer Grimes brought in Zaxby’s manager Sandy Adams and her co-workers to see if the perpetrator looked familiar to any of them.

Adams said that the burglar did look familiar to her.

“He definitely had a plan, and he was definitely familiar with the back of our house and kitchen,” said Adams.

If you have any information about this burglary, you are asked to contact the Nicholasville Police Department. Your tip can be anonymous.
