Private Detective: Manhunt Continues Across Four Counties for Tim Lawson

The search for an armed and dangerous man suspected of at least a dozen crimes in four counties over the last week has intensified.

Tim Lawson is suspected in at least two armed robberies, two home invasions, three carjackings, and seven cars stolen in all so far.

It’s a crime spree across Clay, Owsley, Leslie and Perry Counties that has police zeroing in on one suspect: Lawson.

“He is armed and dangerous. We know for a fact that he has a shotgun and a handgun in his possession at this time,” said Clay County Sheriff Kevin Johnson.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Sheriff Johnson says just this morning, Lawson traded gunfire with a homeowner in Owsley County, but he got away with their car.

“Obviously the community is very nervous, scared,” said Sheriff Johnson.

Police found the car not long after 2:00 in Clay County, but there was no sign of Lawson.

Little Bullskin Branch in Clay County, not far from Oneida, is the last place that police actually saw Lawson. Since the sighting, they’ve been running checkpoints to see if anybody has anymore information.

Deputies said they did get a hit. A man told them that around 6:00, Lawson put a gun in his face and left with clothes and food.

“Obviously he has a severe drug problem. He is actually doing all these crimes, we believe, is to feed his drug problem,” said Sheriff Johnson.

Even with four county sheriffs, KSP, federal agents and helicopters in pursuit, they still have not caught him.

But police will keep searching the towns, the woods and everywhere in between until he’s found.

“A, to stop this madness. B, to protect the innocent lives obviously, like I said. C, hopefully no innocent person gets hurt in a situation like this,” said Sheriff Johnson.

If you know where Tim Lawson is, or have any information, contact your local state police post or the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 606-598-3471.

Identity Theft Two West Haven, CT Woman Charged

Two women from West Haven were charged with working together to steal the identities of more than 20 people via the mail throughout the New Haven area, according to U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly.

Jamila Williams-Stevenson, 36, and Lorena Coburn, 42, are accused of stealing $50,000 through the scheme, Daly said.

According to a statement from Daly, both engaged in a scheme in which change of address applications were submitted to the U.S. Postal Service without their victims’ knowledge.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Once in control of the mail, the women stole the identities and financial data of more than 20 people and then used that information to intercept checks and open online bank accounts in their victims’ names, according to Daly. Stolen checks were eventually deposited into those accounts, she said.

After those check deposits, Williams-Stevenson and Coburn withdrew the money from ATMs and used the money to purchase money orders and re-loadable debit cards at retail stores, according to Daly.

Williams-Stevenson was arrested on July 21 and charged with bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. Coburn, who was arrested Wednesday, was charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Williams-Stevenson and Coburn were each released after posting $100,000 bond. Williams-Stevenson faces up to 30 years in prison while Coburn could receive up to two years if convicted.

Daly said the case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the Criminal Investigation Division at the Connecticut Financial Crimes Task Force, and the West Haven, New Haven and Orange police departments.

Anyone who suspects they may have been victimized by the alleged identity theft ring is urged to contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 203-782-7391.

Cold Case KSP Hopes to ID Murder Victim From 1989

A Grant County murder investigation went cold decades ago when a tobacco farmer found a body in his barn on KY HWY 22 on April 9,1989.

“He just said he come in and he said there’s a dead man down there and we said ‘what?’ and of course he was just stunned,” said Lois Adams, who’s husband discovered the body.

Adams’ husband, Billy, found the man as he prepared to strip tobacco one evening.

http://liarcatchers.com/cold_cases.html

Investigators say the man had been shot in the head and his hands were missing.

“Of course, he was laying on his back and his hand was sticking up this one arm where the hand was cut off, his hand was gone,” Adams said.

With no fingerprints and limited resources, 27 years ago, investigators had no way to identify the victim.

“This is somebody’s child, this is somebody’s son,” said Trooper David Jones.

The only description of the victim, at that time, was that he was a white male, approximately 20-30 years old, 6’4, weighing approximately 220 lbs.

But with new technology, Trooper Jones hopes someone will recognize the man in the  enhanced picture,”through computer enhancement, they were able to reconstruct what they believe the subject would’ve looked like at the time, in 1989, the time of his death.”

Trooper Jones also says naming the victim is only the first step, “moving on and trying to solve his murder.”

If you recognize the man or know who he is, call Kentucky State Police Post 6 at (859) 428-1212.
